The 9th annual awards celebrating the harder side of Dance music will return in February with a huge awards ceremony and compilation to boot. The voting is now open...
The bish bash bosh of the harder dance music scene will be having a very special get together next month at the Leeds Academy here in the UK. It's a celebration of all things Hard Dance and it can mean only one thing; it’s the return of the Hard Dance Music Awards! The annual gathering of the finest talent which, doesn’t like anything below 135bpm and will frown on you if your speaker system is not one ready to blow up with one more notch on the volume button, will be hosted by Ed Real.
Before the party begins you, the dance music public, who will vote for the best of the crop for 2008 to determine the winners. There’s sprinkling of new categories this year to run along with the status quo. They include an award for the best artist album (I may suggest Scott Atrill as one you should think about), best regional hero and a very special award for Outstanding contribution to Hard Dance.
The event will be held at the Leeds Academy on Friday the 27th February. Tickets are on sale right now at £18 or £23 for a VIP one. You can order those through the Hard Dance Awards site which is well worth a look round as it has interviews from the scene's biggest artists and all the information on the Awards you could need.
This Year's Categories
Best DJ Best Producer Best Track Best Label Best Remixer Best Resident Best Newcomer Best Small Club Night Best Large Club Night Best One-Off Event Biggest Party Animal Best Website NEW Best Artist Album NEW Best Regional Hero NEW Outstanding contribution to Hard Dance
Voting is now open and you need to submit your votes no later than the 14th February.
Radio 1 Support
This year the mighty Radio 1 are getting involved in the action and with one of the rising stars in Hard Dance Kutski on their schedule it makes sense. They will be running two very special Hard Dance Essential Mixes along side Kutski's own show which is broadcast early Saturday morning. Who will be on the Essential mix? That is unknown for now but expect it be a two very big names involved in the Hard Dance scene.
The Hard Dance Awards Compilation
The Hard Dance action does not stop there as to get you in the mood there will be a three disc Hard Dance Awards compilation. The 'Euphoria' brand will be releasing the album which will compile the very best in current Hard Dance and feature a few highlights from the scene of last year. No release date on that just yet but expect it to drop before the awards night which is on the 27th February.
