The name might ring a bell but for some but quite a few people will not have heard of Shinichi Osawa. One of Japan's biggest dance music stars has a brand new artist album coming out and it's 'One' to check out...
Shinichi Osawa is an artist that I've heard quite a lot of and seen the name splashed around but one that I've never investigated in. That is until now and with the forthcoming release of his brand new album 'The One'. The UK release will be out at the end of this month on Norman Cook's 'Southern Fried Records' label with the album being released in Japan earlier last year. It seems Norman is onto a winner with this one as the double CD release features his best solo productions to date and a special bonus remixed disc.
This is not album by a novice Japanese with a Casio keyboard as Shinichi Osawa has been working in the music industry for well over 15 years. He has been involved with the Acid Jazz movement back in the 90's and has been said to have created a new wave of sound in the Japanese music scene. He is also a DJ and played with the likes of Pete Tong, Switch, Tim Deluxe and James Murphy on his travels around the globe. I don’t think he is all that well known in the UK but if people cop a load of this new album his reputation will certainly push up a notch.
The house orientated style but with more twists than a pack of curly fries will be a refreshing breath of audio for anyone’s ears. Think the Chemical Brothers with an added electro acid dusting added to the mix. Big beats and massive riffs will rip you to bits here and I'm sure you will join me in wanting to find out more about this Japanese producer called Shinichi Osawa. You may well recognise the first track on here as its his very own version of the Chems 'Star Guitar' and was released last year but must have passed me by as I don’t remember it. 'The One' is one Japanese import you wont want to miss.
