It seems like a couple of the top trance producers have gotten their genres a bit wrong! But is it all that bad?
Paul Oakenfold and Brian Transeau.. 2 of the most established producers in the 20th century and into the 21st, have reverted from their usual trancey house style of play back to their roots in Hip Hop.
On the upcoming Blade 2 soundtrack, Oakenfold does a collaboration with Ice Cube to produce a track called Right Here, Right Now. It wouldn't be 100% Hip hop, as it has that vibe which was obvious in the Swordfish OST, but you can't miss Ice Cube here! A good track? for Hip Hop fans maybe, but usual Oakenfold fans might want to stay away from this one.....
Brian Transeau has also done a collaboration with The Roots to produce a SLIGHTLY more non-Hip Hop-tune which resembles something like Moby's Bodyrock, but still... definitely not BT's normal production style, except maybe under his guise with Tsunami One.
Other tracks included in this come from Moby, Roni Size and a number of other hip hop + drum n bass artists.
track previews can be found at:
What do YOU Think? Commercialism taking over? or has Oakenfold & BT identified their roots in music back to Hip Hop. Not that I have anything against hip hop, but usual Oakenfold & BT fans may not be impressed...
