It's been a while since we had something new from Fenology but that’s all about to change with their forthcoming release by Discodyne called 'Deep Impact'. Uplifting could be one word to describe it...
Those of you who are familiar with the German Trance scene may well have come across Discodyne and their remix partners in crime Ferrin & Low (Josh Ferrin & Chris Low ). They all hail from there and have been producing in one fashion or another since 2005. The Fenology label has seen the likes of Alex M.O.R.P.H., Woody Van Eyden and Ferrin & Low's own productions released over the past few years which have been warmly welcomed by those within the industry. The latest release will be dropping into stores on the 4th April and has already been dropping in the record boxes of Armin van Buuren, Jon O'Bir, Marcos, John O'Callaghan and Steve Helstrip. Having had a listen, it’s very easy to see why.
:: Original Mix :: Ferrin & Low Remix
My recollection of records by Discodyne does not really go back very far but after hearing this superb work of deeply uplifting guitar riddled electronic audio it's left me with a good impression. The whole track has a bright electric trance feel to it with uplifting chords that sparkle at you entertaining your interest. The beginning starts off a little deep with juts a flat beat. It’s not long before a deep groove on the bass gets joined by bright dribbles of build up. The groove turns into a ripper of a bass line to gets things rolling and the bright sounding melody that leads from it really adds to the track. As the bass changes its chord in drips the beginnings of what will turn out to be a real epic of a guitar tinged melody. It's echo's drop when the break in the track begins. The melody is massive and if it does get your attention then you must have forgot to press play. When the beat comes back you get an electro riff and bursts of bright percussion that feed in the guitar melody again. Its really quite refreshing!
This is not the first time we have seen a Ferrin & Low record on Fenology as back in 2006 they released the excellent 'Breeze'. What they have created with their remix here is an action packed trance offering that builds on the traditional uplifting Trance sound incorporating the original's deepish mood and giving it a twist. The guitar melody remains unchanged but what surrounds it is a real joyride of building beats, rolling drums and steaming sythns ripping through you like a gale force wind. This mix is as uplifting to the extreme and works beautifully with the hair tingling guitar melody. It's trance at its very finest and a superb remix by Ferrin & Low that stands apart from the Original with its high octane beat and punishing peaks of energy. This one is for those looking for that extra kick.
Conclusion:
Quite a fine new release on Fenology Records we have here and one its been a pleasure to listen to. The original mix is deep and bright with the remix pumping more energy into the track to create a sensationally uplifting piece of trance. One to get your hands on when it drops on the 4th April!
