The 24th annual International Dance Music Awards were held a few days ago in the glorious sunshine surroundings of Miami and all this year's winners have been announced, although some choices may well leave you scratching your head...
While those who attended the madness that was this year's Miami Winter Music Conference recover from all the great parties and new music thrown there way during last week the rest of us have to put up with the usual nine to five and think out doing the garden now the weather's picking up a little. It's has been another great year for those involved within the dance music Industry and even more so for those who managed to grab an award in the annual International Dance Music Awards which is held at the conference each year.
There are a total of fifty one awards up for grabs and they cover a wide spectrum of the Dance music Industry. They highlight the best promoter's, DJ's , clubs, tracks DJ gear, software and more or less anything else dance music related you could think off on the fly. Just to point out a few of the winners this year in the Trance and House categories we saw Tiesto pick up the Best Global DJ and Best Full Length DJ Mix for his In Search of Sunrise: Volume 7 compilation he released last year. Paul van Dyk scooped the Best Producer gong and Armin van Buuren won the Best European DJ award.
One award that got me puzzled, even more so than when I looked at the nominee’s list, was the winner of this year's Best Underground Track that went to Eric Prydz's Pianoo. That track was about as Underground as the International Space Station last year so why they would even nominate it as an Underground track I do not know. The kings of the airwaves are as you would expect though with Armin's A State of Trance winning then Best Radio Mix Show DJ and the mighty Radio 1 scooping the Best Radio Station (Global).
The full list oif this years winners can be found on the official web site and as something extra for those looking for more than juts a list who won have a look at this compiled list on HousePlanet that has a few audio samples to jog your memory.
