The beautiful sounds of Syna return for their third release on the Bonzai label and its a real breakbeat affair with two remixes from Ayleon and Ville Lope...

The Syna name is a collaboration by three folk know as Timo Juuti, Toni Kurkimäki, Mika Vuorela who all come from the Scandinavian island of Finland. They have been producing since 2006 but this is only their third official release. Their debut track 'Face of God' was a real emotional Trance breakbeat record that I for one enjoyed immensely. They seem to blend together emotional strings giving the sound a down tempo but feel good vibe. Their second release 'Do You Feel' was a full bored uplifting Trance record that featured deep flowing sounds and Piano strings with a bright electric melody. This may be their third release in three years but now they have been signed to the Bonzai label expect that number to be doubled by the end of the year. That’s good news for fans like me who really enjoy their style of music and found this latest release a breath of fresh air.

:: Original Mix
:: Radio Edit
:: Ayleon Remix
:: Ville Lope Remix

The one thing I was expecting with a new Syna track is a good emotional melody surrounded by fast flowing rushes of sound. The Original is a breakbeat affair with lots of substance to the build up and layout. The opening of the track is lead on by the break beat that slips in after a short intro of fluxing sweeping sounds. Deep strings lead off from the beat and the atmosphere the track creates seems a little dark at first. That soon changes as the introduction of the Piano melody briefly slips in. Sweeping chords from the background, complimented by a light saxophone riff break in the Paino melody to create a bright uplifting mix touched up more so with the break beat fed back in. The old sound on the Bass that you would recognise with Syna is lightly swept through the backing of the track as the Paino plays things out. It’s another fusion of gorgeous melodies and a record of two sides with the intro having a dark edge to it and the main meat being light and uplifting. The Radio Edit is just a pocket size of the original for those looking for a quick thrill.

The remixes take to the formulated 4x4 Trance style but with each one there is different use of the originals ingredients. Ayleon goes along the soft edged uplifting route with his remix taking on board parts of the Break Beat sound of the original but popping a bright electro riff on the lead. The main sequence of the track is kept faily unclutterd with use of the Paino melody in the lead bubbling in with a few skippy beats and bass chords. The main break takes the Saxaphone stright into the foreground of the action then leading back with the Paino and thumping up things even more with a bright sparking chord on the Bass. The whole mix is well layed and flows nice with a relaxing chiled out vibe to it.

Ville Lope, who is another Finnish electronica star, has crafted together a bit of concoction with his mix. The opening of the mix goes deep on the beat and leads with a gritty bassline with squelching percussion leading onto of the building Piano string. The tempo with this mix is mild but when the climax of the main elements all hit you the record goes back into the deep beat with the gritty bass line, which may disturbed the flow for some or give it a needed change for others. For me, it does break quite nice and builds out progressively.

Conclusion:
Syna do it again for me with this one. I don’t think it’s their best record to date but its a good solid effort with a gem of a melody complimented by two interesting remixes. 'Forever' is just the starts for the trio as more tracks have already been signed for this year and should be worth keeping an ear out for.
