It's been Ten years since the birth of Deepblue Records and to mark the anniversary they have enlisted the help of New Yorker's Filo & Peri to put together a compilation compiling their past and future anthems...
It's only been five years since the pair of Filo & Peri broke onto the scene with their breakthrough record 'Closer Now' that propelled them into the spotlight and got the Trance scene really taking about them. Today, the duo from New York City are very well respected Trance artists and its a mark that has not gone unnoticed by Deepblue records. The pair has had releases on Deepblue themselves under the 'Whirlpool' alias and they left them the pleasure of producing this very fine two disc compilation of the labels finest releases. Ten years is a very long time in Dance music and over that period many things have changed but the Label has remained strong and continues to push out great new music. That new music is highlighted in this compilation as well as records gone but very timely reminded by a collection of Deepblue finest anthems.

Where do you start with this compilation? It's jam packed with quality records and reminders of classic Trance melodies you may well have forgotten about over the years such is the speed of new music floating around these days. The Deepblue stable have a very impressive back catalogue of records with some very notable highlights spread across the two discs here. The first disc gets right into the action with a superb Lange remix of Matt Cerf & Evelio's 'Walk Away' with its deep funky rolling bassline getting your attention from the word go. The first Filo & Peri offering soon pops into the mix and its one you all should recognise. The 'Whirlpool' alias second and last record release to date 'Under The Sun' was very popular when it got released and the Solarstone remix here is a classic in its own right. A bright new talent that is worth highlighting is Estiva, who may well be the Dutch equivalent of the UK's Activa, name wise anyway. His collaboration with Maminx to create the space invader melody packed 'Casa Grande' is very good indeed and he is surly a name that will be popping in releases throughout this year worth checking out. Solarstone's vocal epic 'Like A Waterfall' drop at the end of the first disc just before a thunderous remix by Martin Roth of Leo G's 'Supersonic'. The first disc is finished off by a record that caused a massive stir back in 2004 'Naked Angel', yet again produced by Solarstone with co production by an one of Gatecrasher's best residents Scott Bond.
One disc down and you will be glad to hear that there is a lot more of the same on the second disc. This is not a compilation that has a differing style with each mix as each is juiced up with fine uplifting Trance worthy of anybody's record collection. Filo & Peri have done a good job of mixing it all together as I can't fault the seamless transition from one record to the next which is sign they are pretty handy as DJ's but with CD mixes you can never tell how much its DJ or computer aiding the transitions. I'm sure its the work of Filo & Peri and good work it is as not a beat is out of line. That makes it even more enjoyable to hear the tracks that are on this second disc. There is a brand new Filo & Peri record early in the mix with 'Let You Know', a vocal affair with a big riffed up guitar chord lighting up the flames complimented by a groovy bassline and soothing breaks. There is an excellent remix by Haris C off Update Project's 'After The Rain' as well as his solo production ''Morning Sun' 'and another Filo & Peri smash 'Shine On' with Activa on the remix. One of the biggest records Deepblue have had release on their books would surly be 'Young Parisians' 'Jump The Next Train' with is massive male vocal that has been echoed around Trance gig's worldwide. The Deepblue stable has been home to a good share of Solarstone releases over the years and another one follows with 'Release' and the energetic Zehavi & Rand Remix is perfect for the mix here. It's worth pointing out FKN's classic track to finish off the second disc 'Why' as he's got producing that big uplifting vocal sound down to a fine art. It may not be the latest release from him featured here but it is one of his best, the good news for FKN fans is Deepblue will have a new single from him coming this Summer.
Conclusion:
This is a fantastic compilation. Not only is it mixed superbly by Filo & Peri it’s got a real mixture of old classics and new material that should see Deepblue be around on the scene for another ten years. It's not your usual classic compilation with tracks you've heard a thousand times on every other compilation so I would recommend you get hold of this, its two disc's of Trance heaven!
