Solarstone has once again re-drafted the electronic dance music map with the first chapter in a formidible new compilation series. Standing out in the crowded compilation field, really rising head and shoulders above the rest has required a herculean 6-month A&Ring mission. Matched with its super-immersive, multi-level mixing, that is exactly what Rich Mowatt is bringing with 'Electronic Architecture'...
Solarstone's 'Electronic Architecture' - Out Now!
Getting ahold of this wall-of-sound takes little more than a few mouse clicks! You can pick it up digitally from Beatport or the Solarstone website shop. Alternatively to buy the beautifully packaged 2XCD release, again you can head straight over to the Solarstone Website or pick it up from CDJshop.com.
There are many great happenings which have centred around the release for you to check out. Rich's Solaris International show featured a 20 minute 'Electronic Architecture' special. If you missed it you can catch it again through the Player on the Solarstone website. Rich also guest-mixed on Markus Schulz's Global DJ Broadcast in April, where he showcased a wide range of the music from the album.
La Musica Tremenda...
Such is the expanse of debut artists that the first look at E.As track listing, well, you might be forgiven for a brain-freeze! Bear in mind, this is a concentrated attempt to bring you new artists and new music. Bot Cyprian, David Horne, Filigro, Jahawi, Cormac Murphy, Souls in Motion, Jox,& LTN (who won Trance.nu’s ‘Solarstone’s Next Big Thing’ Competition); these are the next generation of progressive, breaks and trance names - acts that Richard has unearthed after sifting through thousands of submitted ‘EA’ demos. As your eyes adjust though some marginally more familiar ones will start to appear... Katcha, Haylon, & Saints + Sinners - underground anthems, taken from the archives and rewired by remixers like Breakfast, Alucard, Observer & Heatcliff and Solarstone himself - solely for the purposes of the album. ‘E.A’ subscribes firmly to the 'journeyman' compilation theory. Weaving with absolute fluidity between the subterranean layers of deep house & soft-tech, up through breaks and progressive, and then onto the melodic plains of balearically-blooded trance with which Solarstone originally made his name.
The Art vs The Architecture
Conceived as a boundary-crossing release, both the ‘Electronic Architecture’ CD and tour aspects will be backed up by stunning design visuals.
Solarstone's love of sleeve artwork has run hot through LPs like 'Exhibition', 'Destinations' & ‘RainStarsEternal’. On 'Electronic Architecture' he has taken this up several levels'. EA is music & art combined.
Rich goes on to explain: "For me, the visual aspect of this project was essential from the outset. To have such a rich new musical tapestry and not represent it with equally beautiful visuals would have been a huge missed opportunity. This album represents exactly what I stand for as an artist, producer & DJ. This is the music I love to listen to. It is inspirational in its inventiveness, musically ambitious and never formulaic or predictable. This is an album that I want your finger to pause upon whilst browsing dusty CD shelves in ten years time, for both its aesthetic and auditory qualities."
