Hot off the press from the Solarstone HQ is their June update with news on a brand new single, more Electronic Architecture, the move to Dance Theraphy, a massive new remix, the EA competetition winner and all the latest tour dates...
If our Interview with Richard John Mowatt (the man behind Solarstone) left you itching for more then you've not had to wait long as their June update pop in the mail bag this morning. It's got some very big news with the story that he will be remixing an Electronic Music Legend, who that is he wont say but it is a name so big Solarstone can't spill the beans on it.....yet. Read on for all this months Solarstone news.
The New Solarstone Single
The next (and indeed final) single to be plucked from Solarstone’s ‘RainStarsEternal’ album will be ‘Part of Me’. Vocalled by Elizabeth Fields (who also sang on 2004’s ‘Speak in Sympathy’), the track is based on the classic gypsy composition ‘She Moves Through the Fair’. The single also comes with a gold-plated, possibly even diamond bejeweled (!) remix coup. It’s the first track in 4 long years to come with a studio remapping from The Thrillseekers! Following his extended sabbatical, Steve Helstrip has re-focused all his production powers on ‘Part of Me’ to give it a stunning deeper trance accent. Stellar, Vlind and Solarstone’s own Extended Album Mix complete the package which will be ready to come coursing down your telephone wires on the 30th of June.
Electronic Architecture Singles Round-Up
If the forums are anything to go by the hunt appears to be very much on for ‘E.A.’ singles. Already out there on Solaris Recordings is Harley Soan’s instantly-anthemic ‘Long Drive Home’, with a remix from fellow Australian Majera, as well as Winterlight’s ‘Mirror’ (recalibrated by Rich himself). Proving to be one of the album’s popular front runners, you can quickly add Jahawi’s ‘Kenya’ (also in new Kimito Lopez and Lee Haslam flavours) to your collection, as well as Solar Energy’s 'Wanna Feel What You Feel'. Both of those releases are out now on insatiable and Crashing Waves respectively and are doing all the right type of damage.
Electronic Architecture – The Unmixed Collection
If the last story caught your attention and you’re randy to get hold of some mixable tracks from the album en-mass, we got some very good news for you! ‘Electronic Architecture – The Unmixed Collection’ CD, which features 11 full length tracks taken from the album, is forthcoming on Solaris Recordings. A full rundown of the featured tracks will be up on the Solarstone Website shortly
Solarstone Gets Some Dance Therapy!
As of May the 1st Rich has moved DJ agencies and joined The Netherlands-based Dance Therapy. Already home to spinning names such as Bart Claessen, Rafael Frost, Breakfast, Lange and, ooh, er, one Ferry Corsten, it’s a move that (just for starters)will see Rich take the Electronic Architecture tour around China and South East Asia and make his Cream Amnesia debut this summer. All the Solaris crew will be shipping out for that one; hope you can too!
The Mighty EA Competition: A Winner Is Found!
As we’re fond of booming in such circumstances: there can be only one! With the launch of ‘Electronic Architecture’ we came up with a competition with a bit of a difference. We asked you to gather together your 5 favourite vinyl covers of all time as jpegs and send them to us. With his inbox (stuffed with over 500 entries) open and eyes sellotaped closed Rich waved the mouse around and clicked! The cursor arrived on the name of one Francesca Pridding. So many congratulations to you, Francesca! You’ll be receiving a beautifully framed ‘Electronic Architecture’ poster through the post, along with the full gamut of other E.A. goodness.
Solarstone Remixes An Electronic Music Legend!
Rich is currently working on a top-secret official remix of one of electronic music’s greatest founding fathers. And for one of his most revered moments to boot!! He’s bound by a contract so heavy it could sink the Balearics not to reveal his/her/their identity until the ‘go’ word is given.
The only thing he’d tell us is: “think back, waaaaay back… no, a bit further back still, and you might just be able to hazard a correct guess!” Our trance colour today is: intrigued!
Solaris International Meets Trance International
Rich’s Solaris International show joins forces with another ‘International’ from this month. We’re not sure if that means exactly (‘multinational’? ‘bi-international’?), but we’ll figure it out in due course. Trance International, the cult e-magazine that pops into thousands of inboxes every month is sponsoring a new feature on the show… With ‘The Resurrection Section’, the Mag will be dipping into their hefty mp3 collection each week to pull out a nugget from trance music’s esteemed history and spinning it on the show. And talking of things Solaris International, the show is now available in its Podcast version as a 128k download. Quality pimped for your increased listening pleasure, it’s available through the website or via iTunes… Bitchin’!
