The very latest news direct from Leon Bolier with his next single release, a very packed tour diary, a little Q&A, information on his recent 'Streamlined' compilation CD and a brand new July DJ mix...
If the release of his latest compilation was not enough to be getting on with Leon Bolier has a brand new single out this month entitled 'This' with vocal work from Floria Amber. You can read more about his latest compilation with our exclusive interview we held with Leon a few weeks ago. For now though, his July newsletter popped into the i:Vibes mailbag and its worth a read.
This’… Is The Time!
Leon’s latest opus ‘This’ has slipped the lock on its promo cage and is out and about in clubland, bringing just the right amount of disorder on the dancefloor. Featuring the evocative, atypical vocals of the very lovely Ms. Floria Ambra, it’s a positive hurricane of sound that’s been burning down speaker-cables around the world. You can place this nugget in your mp3 collection for slightly less than it costs you to fill up at Starbucks in the morning via Beatport, now.
Gigs, sir… Thousands Of Them!
Ok, perhaps not thousands, but more than enough to keep Leon busy and some absolute corkers to boot! He’s back in the (former) USSR – Ukraine to be exact - rocking Club Forsage in downtown Kiev on Friday the 24th. Then it’s a hop, skip and a flight to the UK for Gatecrasher in Leeds on the 25th. Just twenty four hours later that striding colossus of middle European festivals, Tomorrowland throws open her tent-flaps. Leon will be going ‘b2b v. SVR’ (translation: back-to-back with Sied van Riel) on the VANDIT stage to round off what will no doubt be one big-ass weekend.
‘Streamlined 2009 - Buenos Aires’
'Streamlined' is bursting at its 160 minute limits with exclusive tracks, remixes, edits, anthems, vocals, instrumentals, collabs and kebabs. Well perhaps not the last one, but LB's first solo compilation has rolled like a freight train with a busted brake over the last six weeks. If you’ve not yet caught a hold of it, it’s not too late. Packing the new single ‘This’, the Menno de Jong team-up ‘Last Light Tonight’ and the new LB re-edit of ‘Beyrouth’, you can take ‘Streamlined’ to bed tonight (or in a couple of days if you buy the CD) through any of the following retailers: Bol, Amazon , 4DJsOnly , DanceTunes.com or Beatport.
Gigs, sir… Thousands Of Them! (Pt.2)
As July turns to August those big summer nights keep a-coming. On Thursday the 30th July Leon will be making his Egyptian debut at the (not unattractive sounding) Cuba Cubana Beach Club in Marina El Alamein. Then on the 31st its TranceWorld in Turkey at Tirmata Beach in Istanbul, and just before the sun-block runs dry it’s the Bee Free Festival in Slovakia where he’ll be headlining the trance stage. If you find yourself in any of those 3 hotspots over the weekend, Los Bolierios would love to see you… Preferably down the front and throwing some of your very best shapes.
Memoirs of La Bolier
Last couple of weeks and weekends have been hectic, but massive fun! Check out the YouTube video to have a bit of an insight in whatever I am doing in my life. Hope to see you around in Ukraine, the UK, Belgium, Egypt, Turkey or Slovakia the coming weeks! Expect some new club bangers by me in the near future as well'.”
Be in TOUCH with Leon!
Social networking! Where would the world be without it? Back in the flippin’ dark ages, that’s where! A place where 50kg video recorders roamed the land and phones without long curly cables attached were merely a crazy idea inside some Finnish’s bloke’s head. Anyway those days are gone... thank god! Now you can stay up-to-the-nanosecond date with all of Leon’s runnings through the marvellous 'info-vessels' below. N.S.F.A.Q. (Not So Frequently Asked Questions)
In our new LB news-mailer feature we want you to ask Leon a… N.S.F.A.Q.! The best 3 inquiries will get answered and each winner will take home a fetching bit of Bolier-belia. Think outside-the-box, go outside the envelope, in fact throw the envelope away. If you nail an interesting question he’s never been asked before, you’re in with a GREAT shout of getting it answered! Ben Alonzo (Orlando, USA) What's the best way to deal with jet lag?
LB: Stay up till kind of the same time you'd go to bed anyway when you’re back home, just a little bit earlier and wake up a little bit later the next day. If that doesn't help blame the jet!
Shelleh Lou (Leeds, UK) Can I ask the same as I did in the interview you did with Sied?
LB: Yes!
Erkut Ates (Ankara, Turkey) When I first heard your sound it was on ISOS 4 in 2006. Everything changed in the world but you always kept you awesome style. How could you do that?
LB: I don't know if my style changed or not, some people say it changed but I will always keep on producing tracks like ‘Beyond’ on ISOS4. Some people think I changed styles when I produce something different. Techy or proggy, or whatever - but I that’s not the case. From time to time tracks like that will be put out. It's just that I don't like to do the same stuff over and over again, that's why I will always look out for gems in other genres of music that can inspire me and influence my productions. Having said that, I don't know if you can say I'm 'protecting' my style :) I just produce what I like, and if others want to do that as well that's up to them of course! I am glad tho that many people seem to dig what I am doing, that's all you can hope for as an artist!
Ben, Shelleh and Arkut have all won a copy of Leon’s first artist album, 'Pictures'.
Welcome To The BOLIER Room!
In this new feature we go into, through and back out the other side of Leon’s mind. The subject matter: anything and everything apart from EDM (which we think is pretty well serviced by the rest of the mailer!) It’s Bolier’s Blog and this month the subject is a song by Kate Havnevik, called ‘Unlike Me’.
“I found out about Kate thru a review Tim van Waard did of my album “Pictures” for www.trance.nu . In this review he mentioned Kate, referring to her when he was writing about the track “Longing For”, a singer-songwriter kinda track I wrote with Jady-Mayne on the vocals. When I read that I started searching for Kate and the first song I found on YouTube was ‘Unlike Me’. This song immediately grabbed my attention. For me it has a eerie atmosphere and gives the listener some kind of strange feeling of loneliness. The video clip provided strengthens that feeling as well, the combination of Kate’s voice, the great atmospheric composition underneath and the strange visuals made it a song that intrigued me straight away.”
Forthcoming Dates:
24-07-2009 Club Forsage – Kiev (Ukraine) 25-07-2009 Crasher “Feel the Burn” – Gatecrasher, Leeds (UK) 26-07-2009 ID&T Tomorrowland (VANDIT Stage) – De Schorre, Boom (Belgium) 30-07-2009 Cuba Cubana Beach, Marina El Alamein (Egypt) 31-07-2009 Tranceworld Turkey – Tirmata Beach, Istanbul (Turkey) 01-08-2009 Bee Free Festival – Festival Area, Horna Streda (Slovakia)
