Monster Tunes host the latest Tom Colontonio release with a double track EP featuring a remix by Sean Tyas. High energy and euphoric melodies are in in their bucket loads...
The rate at which Tom Colontonio has been producing tracks over the past two years has been quite astonishing and its no doubt he's putting his foot very firmly in the Trance door. He's been producing with some of the current talents exploding up on the uplifting Trance sound right now like Sean Tyas and John O'Callaghan. This is his latest (I think, he's always popping up with a new one) single EP with a double track offering featuring a remix from Sean Tyas. Let the fun begin.
:: Sparkover :: Sparkover (Sean Tyas Remix) :: Walk Through Berlin
If there is one thing you will find in Sparkover, then it's energy. The signs are good from the start of the Original Mix with a good hard dosage of thumping beats which is rather common for Tom's tracks. It may be common but its very welcome and as the beginning of the euphoria starts to stick together you've a feeling this one if building to sequential peak. The bass line is driving and inviting from the word go and it’s not long before a short break feeds in the leading hook. The chords on there are delicious fade down as the beat is dubbed down and in whacks the uplifting melody you've been waiting for. The strings fade off and come back with a small drum stutter with full force and maximum attack. This is one of Tom's finest I think, packed with electronic pumped up goodness that sets things off with a right bang.
Sean Tyas would agree I'm sure as he puts his magical touches in with his remix which to begin with sounds like its turned down a slight notch. There is a big kick in here that dominates the build up and re-arranged strings that form the build up. There is an added backing riff that digs under the surface with the bassline leading up to the explosion that you feel is imminent at any moment. The main break leads with a more harmonic sound which sweeps on itself changing its formation as the beat starts to roll and things start to pick up! The result of all this is a high impact melody that keeps to the original but twists the melody into something else. It's a nice touch with a short piano key towards the back end of the track but as a remix of the original it's just lacking on overall power. That’s not to say its not very good though because it is.
Of the three tracks in this release Walk Through Berlin is the one I'd cue up on the CD player to smash the sound system to bits. It's not a track that’s got a complicated mass of confusion to it but what's in there works a treat. Kick it off with a hard firm beat and the following percussion that jazzes it up and you will soon be introduced to the leading string that’s bright, fresh and full of uplifting qualities. That is more so when all the beats cut and it’s just the lead left to keep things going. You may get the feeling that this one if a little on the progressive nature with the way it builds that lead into the main melody. The chord changes on the bassline keep in time with it all and there is a really good feeling in this track.
Conclusion:
Superb stuff from Tom with both tracks on here but my tip is 'Walk Through Berlin' for the best joyride to be found in here. Just like the label, its a monsters!
