One of the best sub labels on Monster Tunes, Eternity Records is back with a new release from the talented Anhken with a collaboration alongside Adrian...
The Eternity Records label has been running since 2006 and is part of the Monster Tunes group of labels. This is the eleventh release for the label with Romanian producer Anhken, who has had his share of good release recently teaming up with Adrian, who I don’t know much about. The progressive and electro nature of Anhken is a good recipe for a good tune to start with and this latest release has plenty of that by the bucket loads with remixes from Arty and Jessus.
:: Original Mix :: Arty Remix :: Jessus Dirty Mix
The productions of Anhken previous to this have always edge on the progressive barrier touches styles between house and trance with a slice of electro in parts. The Original Mix is along those lines, after a DJ friendly build up for starts the track heads towards the sweet melodic sound with its gentle piano keys that layer over the track before a deep growling electro flavoured bass line builds form the rear and explodes on top. It’s deep and full of grunt but shows its melodic side a little with a sweet piano melody right at the heart and timely chord changes on the bass line. It’s one of those tracks that throw you a curveball just when you think its all gone straight.
The Arty Mix is a different sound altogether and in parts I think a little funky. The beat is deep and strong with a building melody starting from nothing sweeping in from the start and the Piano key’s leading the introduction at the break of the beat for the first time. When the beat hits back the bass is muffled but kicks out a good grumble and goes well with the kicks and stinging hi-hats that flip along. There is a spacey melody in here that floats on top of the grumbling bass line and works with the beat and off kick stabs to create a funky effect. The break cuts back everything and just hits you with the melodic piano keys and swirling backing sound. I love the break in here, its quality. The lead back up has an electric feel to it and seems bright and kicks out plenty of punch off the beat. My favourite mix out of the three for sure.
Jessus Mix is called Dirty for a very good reason. Don’t worry, he’s not enlisted Cristina Aguilera to do the vocal work, it’s not that kind of dirty. The filth, as you could call it, is all in the bass line with this mix. It’s deep and electric and tone changing as the mix goes on. Deep thumping beat adds to the sound and aggressiveness in here. The tempo is pretty high in here but the Piano keys are tweaked around with and don’t really kick the track off for me. They have a little effect on them that just doesn’t sound quite right for my ear and the break pops those keys in on a different tone, which just sound a little odd. It’s a dirty remix for sure but one that could do with a little cleaning up.
Conclusion:
Overall a very strong release with the pick of the mixes in here the sweet piano melody in Arty's remix, it’s my tip to go for. Those who like a little bit of funk in the percussion will share that view.
