The chances are you will not have heard much from Steve Brian, the man with two first names. That’s because this is his second ever release and it's one Lange has put his faith in to do the business...
There is not a lot I can tell you about Steve Brian as he’s not an artist that I have heard much off. What I can tell you is his real name is Stefan Brünig and he is one half of the Marksun & Brian project that has had a few releases on Euphonic Recordings over the past 4 years. He's a German born and bread and this release on Lange Recordings is his second as 'Steve Brian'. You all now Lange, the world famous Trance music pioneer who has set the scene alight with classic productions over the past ten years and with an ear for good music it makes sense his own label has the same quality. This then is the 21st release on the label and keeping with previous offerings it's pushing new talent once again. There is a familiar face on this release with DJ Eco putting his remix shades on.
:: Original Mix :: DJ Eco Remix
The Original Mix is one that I've heard in a few mixes recently and its easy to see why. The whole record is warm and inviting; being very kind to ear with its soft edge beat and rounded off snare kicks. The opening of the track is bright and fresh with the main melody in here being fed under the top coat quite early. The keys in there are soothing, padded but with the beat kicking in has a crisp punch to it. It's a very melodic track, dreamy with a ting of progression the way it shuffles things along. On the beginning of the main break a warm female vocal thats effect driven adds depth to the melody that’s to follow. It's a mellow one this but full of elements that suit it to a label like Lange.
The rise of DJ Eco is no surprise as he has a talent behind the production desks and has a track record of knocking up a good track or two. He goes harder on the beat with his remix here kicking in a bit more edge with snares and kicks. The way this mix is built up is very cleaver, right from the start in the background you can hear a sparkle leading from the bass line. That sparkle remains throughout the intro and builds the mix up well. Sweeping short riffs feed in as it builds up to the main break. When that break comes the soft melodic melody remains in its original state but gets all tweaked up with dreamy keys and a building bass line. The track explodes a big chord that drives the rest of the elements together. It's a nice remix from DJ Eco that has a slightly different mood from the original but retains the melodic melody in the break.
Conclusion:
Quite a nice release on Lange we have here with the Original mix being the one I'd tip to be the pick of the release.
