The mighty DJ Tiesto, formally known now as just Tiesto, is ready with his follow up to Elements of Life. The new artist album from one of the worlds biggest DJ should produce a cracking LP but...
In the history of dance music Tiesto is well established legend, especially when it comes to Trance in particular with his contribution to the explosion of the genre back in the late 90's very well documented. He's the only DJ to perform at the Olympic Games and as many people think the man Armin van Buuren has been coping over the past few years. He has also been the worlds best DJ according to DJ Mag's Top 100 poll for two years running a few moons ago. Whatever you think of his direction these days he is still selling out arenas and remains one of the best paid DJ's on the circuit. He's not looking to bad for 40 either with his youthful looks, which you can all adore on the cover of his brand new artist collection 'Kaleidoscope'.
He is not the Tiesto you may remember from his 'DJ Tiesto' days as he's moved into a different direction with his music implementing more house elements and other styles in his productions and remixes. That direction for some has gone the wrong way but for others its the correct path. The purists and Trance fans who got into the music because of him will question just why he produces like he does these days. From an artist direction anyway, as you will find out with this new LP. For me, any dance artist who feels the need to collaborate with Nelly Furtado has been spending far to much time with David Guetta, who aside from his DJ mixes has gone all 'poptastic'. Many people felt his last album was pretty week but I though it was not that bad, the remix edition was quite superb I thought.
The new album will see Tiesto go on tour for the 'Kaleidoscope World Tour' with it kicking off in North America at the end of this month. Those dates have been announced and support acts include Kill The Noise and Dada Life. He is also running a remix competition for the first single from the album, 'Knock You Out' on Beatport.
One thing that worries about this album was the cover and flipping over to the tracklist does not for me offer any reassurance. It may well be one that is just a matter of taste but an album I'd not like to review. It's due out this Friday in all good music stores!
