The latest in High Contrast Recordings 'Presents' series offers Dutch genius Jochen Miller the chance to slip together a two disc mix. Brimmed with very classy music, it’s got tint of tech and bundles of uplift. This is one smoking hot compilation...

High Contrast Recordings bring together another two disc mix put together by one of their most promising talents Jochen Miller. The 'High Contrast Presents' series is a showcase of what records a DJ is currently knocking out and an example of the kind of music the label has been pushing out all year. That is, very, very good music with a range of styles that they share over the network of sub labels High Contrast is renowned for. Jochen Miller has been a hug part in knocking out some it their best records with hits like 'Brace Yourself' and 'Face Value'. This double disc explosion of sounds follows the same tech driven style that his productions are full off and has some of Jochen's current tips with new records from Jonas Stenberg, Orla Freeney, Cliff Coenraad and Ton T.B. to name just a few.

Jochen Miller has been a firm favourite for me with his productions for the past year and some with that little something different to catch your ear. This is the first full length mix I’ve heard from him but right from the start of the first disc I had that feeling it was not going to be a disappointment, far from it in fact. The choice of records over the two mixes is spread between uplifting tech trance and darker bass driven groove stuff that is all slotted together perfectly.

The first disc is very bright and brimmed with energy right form start with Jozef Mihalik’s punchy ‘Famous When I’m Dead’ track. It’s all about deep beats and electronic ruffed up riffs early with some corking bass lines to get the speakers perked up a bit. One early highlight was Phil Fuldner’sPlay’ which has a melody I’ve heard before but can’t quite put my finger on. The mix of melodic moments and tech driven builds may be stop start for some but pure joy for others. The mxi towards the end drops into an uplifting frenzy with Filo & Peri and Sky Motion’s driving trance bombs ‘Light At The End of the Tunnel and ‘’ Thought Chain’ knocking up the BPM’s a little. The mix finishes with a track by Orla Freeney with the gritty electric riff ripping through the speaker cone.

The second disc is more of the same from the first with more tech flavour sprinkled throughout. There is a slightly different feeling from the first with a deeper sound at the beginning of the mix thanks to the bubbling undertones of great record by Dean Newton with ‘Amnesia’. That pulsing stab off the main beat the record has flows onto the spooky melody in ’Toxic’ by Matias Faint. Those may be names which are pretty new to you, they were for me but that’s another great thing Jochen has brought with this mix. His mixture of new and established names works really well as the quality from both is superb. He even slips in a new production which is not out yet called ‘Red’. It’s got that Jochen sound written all over it with a bright melodic but that deeper undertone to liven up the mood. It is, yet again, another great production in a midst of others that surround it on this compilation.

The mixing throughout the two discs is flawless with no one beat out of place. For those looking for a different compilation than the norm and like that little bit of tech sound exploding within then this is a compilation right up your street. It’s another example of the quality coming from High Contrast at the moment as a lot of the artists in this mix are signed up with the label.

Conclusion:
What a fantastic compilation and yet again another sterling addition of the 'High Contrast Presents' series. It's a label on the rise and with this release they push forward a talent on the rise. This is a compilation that mixes deep tech trance with uplifting melodies to leave a delightful audio experience from start to finish.
