Ronski Speed will be raising the roof at the famous Technoclub in Germany this November and has mixed the latest in its fantastic compilation series. We went to have a word with Ronski to find out more...
It will be the 14th November that will see the return of Ronski Speed to one of Germany's very famous nigh clubs, the Technoclub. Hosted by Talla 2XLC the Technoclub nights are one's not to be missed and have had the cream of the worlds electronic talent perform their over the years. They also have a very successful compilation series that is released in Germany but known all over the globe as the double compilation always seems to bring together two un-miss able DJ mixes. Ronski will be on cue for the 31st edition of the series which will be hitting the stores shortly after the 13th November with a mix from Talla 2XLC alongside Ronski's. With those two landmarks set to come our way we went to have a chat to Ronski to find out more...
i:Vibes: Ron. Great that your coming back to the Technoclub. You have mixed the Technoclub Vol 31. Were you surprised that it took so long for Tala 2XLC to ask you mix the CD?
Ronski: Yes it is great to finally be a part of it.
i:Vibes: There are so many mix CDs, but little very good mix CDs that have been alive as long as the Techno Club series. Was does the Technoclub series mean to you?
Ronski: I have always followed the Technoclub Series the last years. There were always tracks for me on the Cds. There Are always great Djs djing in the Technoclub.
i:Vibes: What can we await form your mix CD? Will it be a normal trance CD, or bring other music styles or have more tracks from the label Euphonic.
Ronski: It will pure trance, but also Techno tracks from artists like Marco V. There wil also be many of my last remixes for artists like Above & Beyond and Lange. There will also be cool new tracks form my label colleagues Stoneface & Terminal and tracks tat I am playing in my sets now.
i:Vibes: You have often played in the Technoclub. What does the Technoclub mean to you?
Ronski: It is always a great party. The people are always great and it is not really far away in Germany.
i:Vibes: How would a Talla 2XLC/Ronski Speed Track sound like?
Ronski: I think uplifting, melodic and straight ahead the way it should be.
i:Vibes: What can we await from your DJ set in the Technoclub? Will you play a Ronski Speed classic track?
Ronski: I think I will play the newest tracks and remixes and one or the other Rosnki Speed classic track. At the moment, there are many mash up tracks where old classic tracks are involved. I think that is exciting and the people like it.
i:Vibes: At the moment, you are very busy with mix CDs. You just mixed the Positive Ways 5 with new releases from Euphonic and some remixes form other artists. How difficult was it to find a flow and not being able to take one or the other Euphonic track?
Ronski: The Positive Ways 5 was a special project that we had been planning for a while. We wanted to take new and exclusive tracks from Euphonic. At first Positive Ways 5 was a label compilation and later became a mix compilation. Now it’s a label compilation again. I am so thrilled to have gotten so many remixes and tracks for the compilation like from Gareth Emery, Rafael Frost, 7 Skies and Thomas Datt that did good work. For the Technoclub Cd, I took tracks from other artists and it was a lot of fun mixing both CDs.
i:Vibes: It has been almost one year since the release of your debut album Pure Devotion. You had many releases and could play all over the world. What was your most positive experience in this time?
Ronski: The feed back that I got after playing my tracks in clubs. We have still released new tracks now, but it is time to release for new tracks.
i:Vibes: 'Are you“ was a very successful track where you took Monique as vocals. What was your inspiration behind the track? Were you able to realize your ideas in the studio or was it sending files back and fourth between you two?
Ronski: Thanks, it was more sending files back and fourth. I met Monique last year in the Technoclub. We are really happy about the release and will work on new songs together.
i:Vibes: Your remix for Lange „Let it all out“ is very nice. How difficult was it to make your own version from the original? What was the most difficult thing that you had to do, to get the remix perfect?
Ronski: The deadline was really short fort his remix? I knew exactly what I wanted to do by making it more trancey and more uplifting than the original. The groove took a while after testing the track. I am happy about the final version and the feedback. The remix made the Beatport top 10 and I am happy about that.
i:Vibes: At the moment, you like making vocal tracks. There are so many vocal tracks at the moment and at times there seems like little innovation. You always find a way to make innovative and nice new tracks with good melodies and the right voice. Is it easier to make new vocal tracks simply with your experience or is it always a challenge making new tracks?
Ronski: Thanks and it is always a challenge to find good voices and combine it with good songs. Of course, I always have a certain idea how the track should sound like. I just filmed the video “Lasting Light” with Emma Hewitt in Melbourne and it was a ft of fun working with such a talented singer and that makes producing new tracks a lot easier.
i:Vibes: 'All the way“ with Aruna is a bit older but a really beautiful track. Was that a difficult track to produce or did you bang it out quickly?
Ronski: We sat about half a year on this track with Aruna with getting the harmonies up to the finished product with the vocal done. The feedback was great and all the top DJs played it including Tiesto./div> i:Vibes: What new surprises can we await from you in the future? Ronski: I just finished three new remixes in the last week and now what to start making some new tracks. I am also thinking of making new Ronski Speed mixes form old Ronski Speed tracks in order to play them again. i:Vibes: You are really busy as DJ. In September, you played In countries like USA, Thailand and Russia just to name a few. Is the travelling much a drag or is it still a dream for you. I remember in 2003 that it was not so much. Ronski: Of course, it is still a dream for me, but I try to be in Germany or near Germany at least one weekend per month. I just came from Bangkok and am in Melbourne now having done the video with Emma Hewitt. I am going to relax this week in Australia and check out Ayers Rock before I go to Mexico and USA. i:Vibes: What was your nicest experience as a DJ in the last year? Ronski: There are so many. I liked the Boat trip on the Thames through the night life in London which was interesting. I also liked being surprised with Mark Norman at the airport in Saratov by many fans. It was also great being the headliner at the first electronic festival in Macao, China. It was also great playing at Nature One or the ASOT 400 in Rotterdam where all the DJs meet and hearing their sets was a lot of fun, because so often you have little time to enjoy a DJ set of another DJ. i:Vibes: One of the current shooting stars is Giuseppe Ottavinai. Do you like his music and what track of him stays in your ear? Ronski: I think shooting star is the wrong word since he has been in the scene for years. I like his tracks and it is hard to pick one. I think “Linking people” is still his masterpiece. i:Vibes: Paul Van Dyk cleaned up at the Trance awards. Will he be #1 again at the DJ Mag Top 100 or is it Tiestos turn again, or will Armin van Buuren win for the third straight year or will Above & Beyond sneak into the #1 spot? Ronski: I think that David Guetta is currently the most known DJ on earth because of his many chart hits, but I think Armin will win again, but let us be surprised. i:Vibes: Ron thanks fort he chat. We are looking forward to your visit I the Technoclub! Ronski: Thank you. I am excited and looking forward to playing there again
