It's been 20 years since the Berlin wall got torn down and East joined West to unite Germany as one country. Paul van Dyk has many memories of Berlin Wall and to mark the occasion he produced a very special audio monument to mark the anniversary...
It's a part of Germany's history that holds an emotional place within Paul van Dyk as he grew up in Berlin through the period where the country was separated into East and West divided by the Berlin wall. It's been twenty years since the wall got torn down and the country joined together for the first time since 1961 when the wall was first being erected. This past Monday a very special event to celebrate the anniversary took place at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Paul had composed his own audio monument to mark the occasion with the vocal help of Johnny McDaid who he has collaborated with on a few other tracks in the past.
The track 'We Are One' not only captures in name the tearing down of the wall but also in emotion as a driving anthem to unite the people who remember back to the time when the Wall split East and West Berlin. It's a celebration that the country is joined together and not separate by barriers or politics. It's a time Paul still finds very emotional thinking back. "It is an incredible honour to be allowed to present my ´We Are One´ anthem on November 9 against such a fantastic backdrop. The events of twenty years ago still move me very personally. I have invested a lot of time and emotion in this project,"
Paul van Dyk The track will be released, digitally on itunes very soon and is a beautifully crafted anthem that is very fitting for the 20th Anniversary of the dismantlement of the Berlin Wall.
