He has a rich history in House music as a collaborating artist and a producer who helped put together Airdrawndagger, Involver, and Xpander with Sasha. It's time for him to spread his solo wings with his debut release on his brand new label...
You may know the legend that is Charlie may for two things; for being one half or the progressive house alias that is Spooky with his production partner Duncan Forbes and the other for his production work with Sasha on his Airdrawndagger, Involver, and Xpander albums. That is just to name a few projects he has been involved in over the 15 plus year's he has been involved in the dance music industry. He's never been short of company in the studio over the years but it is finally now he is looking to break free with the solo productions.
The first single to be hand crafted by Charlie is an excellent techno inspired progressive epic that he has released on his very own, and brand new label 'Mayhem'. 'Apache' comes in two flavours from Charlie with two differing mixes that take you on a deep, dark and sparkly textured journey with a remix from the Audio Junkies & Sahar Z. The whole single has a stunning down tempo flavoured with ambient techno sythns, which is a sound Charlie credits for his solo productions at the moment. “I’m feeling my way around, getting back into the solo headspace really, which is cool. There’s so much cool techno stuff about at the moment which is really inspiring me."
“I’m focusing on singles for a bit but I’d also like to do an album - its something I really want to do. That would be a big achievement. It’s all guns blazing really – watch this space.”
Charlie May The return to solo production has brought about a very special design for the artwork for the new single. It has been designed by UK artist Jamie Crowley who has crafted together some crazy designs for the Mayhem artwork series. Not only that but Charlie has commissioning a series of paintings designed by Jamie which wil be available to buy on canvas or prints with the designs depicting the beauty you can find in decaying buildings, billboards and graffiti. Its art, nothing of which I have a clue about, but if it makes a blank wall that bit more interesting then its worth being open to.
The single is out right now on Mayhem and available from the i:Vibes storeright now!
