One of the most prestigious honours an artist can get is the chance to put together a two hour mix for Radio 1's Essential Mix. Trance rising start Simon Patterson is about to debut on the legendary radio show this Friday...
There are few radio shows around the world that have the history and pedigree that Radio 1's Essential Mix does. The two hour show broadcast in the small hours of Saturday morning is heard by millions with each week a different DJ taking on the task of putting together the best two hour mix of their career. It's an indication that you are getting noticed and reputation wise a very big coup for any DJ. House, Trance, Techno, Minimal, Hard House, Progressive, Drum & Bass and any other dance music style you could care to think off has been represented on the Essential Mix. The roll of honour who have grace the turntables over at Radio 1 is just to long to mention but the likes of Sasha, Carl Cox, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren and Tiesto have all been on the show over the years.
The latest debut to grace the two hour mix is Trance specialist Simon Patterson who since breaking free from his 'Dogzilla' collaboration has produced solo smashes like 'Thump', 'Always' and 'Us'. His productions over the past two years have shaken the speakers and ripped up the dance floors with his pounding tech glazed trance. He has been sweeping the UK and Europe with his DJ sets not to mention jetting off to the sunny sights of Mexico and Australia on his travels. He has become one the most popular and international known Trance artists and producers over the past year. His appearance on the Essential Mix should certainly wake up between the hours of 3AM & 5AM on the 21st November.
If you have yet to hear the mixing talents of Simon Paterson or indeed his style of Trance then make sure you tune in this Saturday morning. You can catch up if you miss the show live for the next seven days after that thanks to Radio 1's playback option.
