Nick Warren & Jody Wisternoff's Way Out West, the massive breakbeat / trance duo who gave us 'Intensify", and more recently, "Mindcircus" has a little update on whats up coming up in terms of productions and remixes.
One of the top trance / breakbeat duo around at the moment, and will be for a long time still have a number of tracks up their sleeves to be released, and here a few of them.
i:Vibes previous article mentioned the existence of a Way Out West remix of Kosheen's massive "Hungry", which was seen as a follow up to their remix of "Catch". The confirmed news is that sadly, this will not see a release anytime this year or in the near future; but if you send some emails to Moksha Recordings or to Kosheen to push for a release, this might see the light of day sometime!
Having just released "Mindcircus" on Distinctive with over 10 awesome remixes from some of the finest remixers of the industry including Phunk Investigation, Fred Numf, DJ Dazzle, Gabriel & Dresden, and believed to be a Jaimy & Kenny D Remix, Way Out West's next single release will be "Stealth", another trance fuelled breaks track which is destined to tear up the dance floors (yet again!). This time, 4 mixes have so far been confirmed, including a very highly waited Quivver Remix, as well as a new Way Out West Club Mix which should be released on Distinctive in late April with the beautiful vocals of Kirsty Hawkshaw of BT - Dreaming fame amongst others.
A long delayed released of Lustral's "Broken" is set for release in late May / June now on Lost Language which will include Jody & Nick's remix of it, amongst several others. Samples of the original mix i heard have been absolutely beautiful, as expected from Lustral and the Lost Language crew, so keep your eyes peeled for the first promos to roll out!
There have also been plans for a follow-up album to "Intensify" which saw a massive release around the world, especially in the UK. There are no concrete plans yet, but the duo have said that this is likely bound for beginning of 2003.
Many people have been asking me why have so many quality tracks never been released from Way Out West? Answer to that? I'm not quite sure, but i'll attibute it to bad taste from some of the A & R boys and girls =p no offense! =)
