The final update from Solarstone for this year is here with the premier of the first record to be released on solarSwarm, the first social network label, airing on his radio show. Not only that but the latest releases and an online only winter mix to warm you up...
It's the last update Solarstone will be providing before the end of the year but its full of exciting new rockets ready for launch next year. If you have been tuning into his Solaris radio show tonight then you will have been on of the first to hear the brand new release on the solarSwarm label. It's not just like any other label as it’s controlled by the members of each unique social network, otherwise you. The label formally known as Insatiable has put the music fan in control of the music that gets released on it and the running of it, to an extent anyway. It's an original idea and one that Solarstone has put faith on his fans having good taste in tunes, which I'm sure they have.
Anyway, on with the update as there is a lot more than just a new release going off this month with Solarstone putting a free mix up on his site for you to download and enjoy at your leisure.
Swarm001 Premieres Tonight On Solaris International!
It started in February this year when Solarstone announced the creation of solarSwarm - the world’s first social network record label. With Swarmers enthusiastically assembling through the early months of the year, in July Insatiable Records became solarSwarm Recordings and things started to take shape in earnest (as did the hunt for the first releases!).
Tonight on Solarstone’s Solaris International show, the first fruit of solarSwarm's digital loins will arrive when Rich gives the premiere spin to Adam Fielding’s majestic ‘Lost In Silence’ . You can tune in via the Solarstone forum at 18.00 GMT (19.00 CET & 1.00pm EST) to check it (alongside the very best of the rest of this week’s trance and progressive house). There is also the show’s dedicated chatbox where you can discuss the music as it's broadcast and don't forget to check the just-launched Swarm label website at www.solarswarm.com.
The release date for ‘Lost In Silence’ (complete with killer remix-retellings from Estiva & Elfsong) is the 25th of Jan 2010 (more info on Adam Fielding below!) and you can pick up the first track from the world’s first social network label via Beatport and Trackitdown.net. Full details in next month's bulletin!
Forthcoming Through The Solarstone Label Collective
Mark Pledger Feat Melinda Gareh 'Time Stands Still' (Original, Dub & Andy Duguid) Already pulling in rave reviews in IDJ, Tillate and DJ Mag (where it took the Money Shot prize in the September issue), 'Time Stands Still' has also seen heavyweight remix support from Armin on ASOT & Above & Beyond on TATW. Mark and Melinda have created something really very special here – we think the perfect balance of sparkling production and heartstring-plucking vocals. The rework comes from remix King of the Hill Andy Duguid and its out (to kick the new decade off just right!) on the 4th of January 2010. SLRS41 Stacker 'Tell Me Why' (Original & Haris C Remix) Based upon the riff from Bronski Beat's 80's smash 'Smalltown Boy', this relentlesss trance pounder has been burning a hole in Solarstone's CD wallet for 12 months now. Despite the erroneous title (which alludes to another Bronski hit), the Club Mix is peak time trance in it's purest form, with a to-the-point breakdown and a pay-off to die for. Haris C puts his own slant on the track in his trademark style - all sparkling arpeggios and dancefloor friendly twists & turns. Info hit: if you didn't know, Stacker is an alter ego of Argentina's Heatbeat. CRWV006
Adam Fielding 'Lost In Silence' (Original, Estiva & Elfsong Remixes) Adam Fielding is a UK based electronic musician specialising in blending rich soundscapes with strong melodies to create music that is both diverse and accessible, while retaining a strong emotional undercurrent. 2008 saw the release of his debut album ' Distant Activity' in which Adam combined elements of atmospheric electronica with dance, shoegaze and symphonic sensibillities to create a unique musical experience. Joy To The (Trance) World! - Solarstone's Seasonal Message...
"Here inside the 10 inch thick walls of the SolarHome, protected from the wildest elements of the winter weather, the fairy lights have come down from the loft and the tree - an unusual 18ft evergreen Prussian/Norweigian crossbreed! - has been erected dangerously close to the blazing hearth (that's olde English for 'large fireplace'). Dafydd Rees Jones, the local butcher - (purveryor of Camarthanshire's finest hung rabbit & sheep since 1898) is under starters orders and the greengrocer (that's: vegetable vendor), well 1 of his wheels came off his cart whilst trying to deliver my 88 Ibs of roasting carrots & parsnips. Yes, Christmas is about to descend upon the world once again and with it hopefully some good cheer! Wherever you are in the 4 corners, my best wishes to you and yours - when it gets here, a very, very Happy Christmas!"
