Just when you think Blank & Jones have been relaxing for the past few months with the recent release of the fourth chill out compilation 'Relax' they are back to end the year with a new artist album that's far from laid back...
While many other duo's have spilt to ventured into the world of solo production one pair of musicoholics from Germany are still strong as glue in their collaboration know to us all as Blank & Jones. Why that name you wonder? Well, the folk behind the name is a guy called Jan Pieter Blank & René Runge (AKA Jasper Jones before he started working with Jan). They have been a difficult pair to work over the past yeah though with a very dodgy last single release this year not living up to what I'd expect from the pair and being very off style. One medium over the years has been their 'Relax' compilation which compiles the very latest laid back chill out sounds over two down tempo CD's. They do know a good Trance record when they hear one though and their weekly 'The Mix' radio show compiles the very latest beats doing the business with the pair.
They have just released a triple disc 80's compilation with re-mastered classics from the golden age of stynth pop called 'so80os'. It is a brilliant collection of full lenght rare 12" versions of records that shaped the style of music you hear today with dance. It's been a while since we had a new artist album from the pair but that will be coming to an end before 2009 is done and dusted. The title for which takes its name thanks to a quote in DJ Mag's May 1999 edition where they described the duo as 'two German trance-meisters who clearly believe in eating raw meat for breakfast." If you have ever heard their 'DJ Culture' album that quotation does make a little bit of sense.
It's a novel way to name your latest album release but one that does make for an appetising from cover. They have currently been on tour over the past two months in Australia and New Zealand taking control of the ‘Boombox’ which, if you have ever seen it, is a huge DJ enclosure that puts the DJ in the middle surrounded by a box of visuals that’s amazing to watch. Godskitchen have been using it in their festival tents throughout the summer to great effect. It has been that tour which gave the pair the drive to produce this new album which will showcase a new sound from Blank & Jones you may not have heard before. The focus is on nightclubbing and club music so you can bet you bottom dollar its not more chillout material. It will be brand new Blank & Jones though and may well be a sound that pushes them back into the limelight through 2010.
They will be releasing the new album on their very own soundcolours label which they use to publish all their new releases now; just in time for Chrsitmas. No track list has been released as yet but we will publish it as soon as we know.
Release Date: 18th December
