The countdown to the seventh annual Hard Dance Awards powered by Trackitdown has begun with the ballot boxes open for voting right now...
The harder styles of dance music grew stronger throughout 2009 with new faces popping up on the scene to keep the old guard on their toes. The Hard Dance Awards, powered by Trackitdown once again, has been running for seven years now and is the only recognisable awards (That I know about anyway) for hard dance music. It's not just an award though, it’s a celebration of the scene, the music, the people within it and all those involved in pushing the style forward. It's a style with many different sub entities like hardstyle, hard house, hardcore, gabba and tech dance. While many seem to think it's all dying a death the genre gets more popular each and every year with new fans joining in the fun. The future of hard dance is in very safe hands.
The voting begins today, well yesterday as its the 5th now. This year there are fifteen various categories to place your vote in ranging from the best DJ, producer, club night and a very special Outstanding Contribution to hard dance award. For all you hard dance fanatics who need a reminder about the artists and DJ's who pushed the scene into the new decade you can check out their stories on the Hard Dance Awards site with short interviews from just about every big name you can think off.
:: Best UK Hard DJ :: Best European Hard DJ :: Best International DJ :: Best UK Hard Producer :: Best European Hard Producer :: Best Track :: Best Label :: Best Resident :: Best New Face :: Best Club Night :: Best One-Off Event/Festival :: Best Artist Album :: Best Compilation :: Regional Hero :: Outstanding Contribution
The voting will be open until the end of February and this year's ceremony will be held at the 3rd Atomik Weekender at Pontins in Prestatyn. That's North Wales for those who don’t know their UK geography. It's the first time the awards have been held at such an event but it looks lie it is there to stay. The weekender is a three day extravaganza of hard dance with this year the return of the Tidy Boys, one of the true legends on the scene. Their 'retirement' from the world of hard dance music has been very much exaggerated.
They will be releasing another compilation with the Euphoria branding spread over three discs and featuring all the styles they could possible cram into three audio discs. That will be released on the 8th March and as soon as we get a tracklist and info we will let you know. For now though, head over to the awards web site and cast your vote for this year's awards.
