The Euphoria brand welcomes back John 00 Fleming who is no stranger to the compilation series after producing some of their best editions ever released in the past. For this new one he goes back into the past to unearth a collection of Trance you must listen to...
What can be said about John 00 Fleming that has not already been written? He’s a man who is deeply passionate about the music he produces, listens to and mixes live in front of thousands of like minded minds all over the world. There is plenty that can be said of the Euphoria brand thought in comparison. It’s one that has been running since the late nineties and in its early days gathered a cult following for the latest in Trance when the genre was exploding into sound systems all over the world. It was not until quite a few editions in that the brand enlisted John to mix together an edition. He came up with one, which at the time was as original as they come, that was brimmed to the top with the latest unreleased tracks, upfront bootlegs and all those tracks only the likes of John 00 Fleming could get his hands on. The two volumes of that series ‘White Label Euphoria’ were some of best ever released. It would be a few years after those and during the beginning of 2008 that we next saw John 00 Fleming on the Euphoria brand. This time he was displaying a different style of Trance and showcased over the two volumes the finest that Psy and Goa have to offer.
It now leads us to this next edition of the Euphoria / Fleming music story with the latest edition a retrospective of some of the finest trance anthems ever released. It’s not anything like the last thirty similar compilations you might have purchased and ended up thinking you should have just got one. It’s like John 00 Fleming, its different and true to the music.

This may well be the best classic compilation I have heard ever. It’s pretty easy to see why just by taking a look at the tracks Mr Fleming has injecting into the compilation over the three discs. I bet over the past few years, if like me, you have grown to be sick and tiresome of the classic, anthem, best of and similar titled compilations littering the market. The main beef for me is that they just replicate all the same tracks every single time. The records selected may not be bad; by all means they may be the greatest tracks ever composed but do you really need to have them on the last five compilations? The owners of the Euphoria brand have been culprits of this over the past years; they have been like a car company just changing the paintwork when underneath it’s all the same. There is one reason why this compilation was never going to turn out like the others saturating the market and that is quite simply John 00 Fleming.
He knows a little bit about Trance and its grassroots and that’s the sound of which he has captured here. Pure, raw, intelligent, no nonsense Trance from years gone by that may have been lost and forgotten about were it not for this beautifully crafted together three disc mix. That early sound is what got the producers of today into the music and inspired them to deliver the records that they do today. It’s early tracks like Tilt – I Dream which are very spacey to the ear and full of atmosphere to drive your ears wild that remind you why you fell in love with Trance. Those of you who can remember the early editions will notice a few firm favourites from back in the early Euphoria days like the timeless down tempo break beat classic The Future Sound of London - Papua New Guinea which kicks off the first disc. The bright Mediterranean flavours of Sasha & Emerson - Scorchio, the orgasmic Art Of Trance - Killamanjaro (which is a long lost gem very welcomingly reminded by here) and the epic piano driven melody of Humate - Love Stimulation are just pure joy to the ear.
The whole compilation is a mixture of traditional uplifting trance, early psy influenced and ripping aggressive space edged melodies that have energy by the power station load. There are no real difference to the style for each disc here only that they start off with the more well known and head into the records John must have had to dig out from the basement to finish off the mix with explosive energy. In the first few weeks of the new decade this is easily the best compilation I have come across and that’s due the fact that John 00 Fleming has reached deep into the archives and presented us with the real classic trance sound that you don’t see from any other compilation, or at least ones over the past few years.
Conclusion:
If you are just getting into trance and need a compilation that presents how it all began then here is lies just what you need. For those who have been into the style, under its many various sub genres then this is an essential album to have in the collection. Although, gat Decor may well be known as a house track but you can't blame John for slipping it in because it is a cracker! Once more John 00 Fleming and Euphoria fit together like bread and butter. Brilliant!
