Dutch electronic pioneer Ferry Corsten is opening up the vaults to his classic trance records from his System F discography for you to remix. It's a little different from most as he's given this one a bit of a football theme...
If I were to ask you to name one of your favourite tracks from Ferry Corsten, regardless of alias, chances are you will pick one by System F. It's debatably his most successful aliases and unquestionably the one that put him on the trance map back in the late 90's and early years of the last decade. It is one that Ferry will not want to tarnish or degrade but is one he will be reviving this year with new mixes of his epic classic 'Out Of The Blue'. The one track that defines the alias that is System F and without doubt the biggest track he released under the aliases. He is to revive this timeless classic with new remixes this year from Tiësto, Hi_Tack, Laidback Luke, Rafaël Frost, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Koen Groeneveld, Showtek and a few others. In the marking of this he is also launching a remix competition with a unique football theme.
SYSTEM F.....FC SYSTEM F
Think of it as a gimmick but with his tie in with Trackitdown.net and Copa Football you will see the need for the football link. It's billed as a competition to join the greatest trance team on earth but in reality is one for the electronic remixer to get their paws on remixing some of the finest System F classics from days gone by. There are ten of System F's classic recordings, not counting Out of The Blue with those, to be made available for you to remix.
The original parts for each track will be made available weekly on the FC System F web site with the first being available from this Tuesday (2nd February). The parts will be available to download for free so you don’t have to pay any cost for entering this contest, which makes a nice change for a remix competition these days. The remixes put forward will be put to thought the paces and the best ones will be put on the site to determine who's is the best.
The prizes for this competition will include the winning remix being made available as a purchasable track and included on a 'FC System F ‘Champions' compilation which will put together the crème de la crème of the remixes submitted to for the contest. There will also be prize money and football gear up for grabs for the winners to. Not only that but each entrant will receive a special thank you in the booklet included with the album and they will be giving away 100 copies of the compilation out at random to people who entered the competition. That is one bonanza of a prize fund and even if your remix is a little of the dodgy side you could still win a compilation full of mixes showing you how to do it properly.
The fun all begins next week and the official web site should be live when you wake up Tuesday morning. For now, I'd go back and revisit some of System F's classic cuts like 'Cry', 'Exhale', 'Soul on Soul' and of course 'Out of the Blue' to get the mood and deliver some inspiration for your remixes.
