This will be the first appearance of the year from Pharmacy Music the return of Jonathan Allyn to the label to follow on the success of his last release 'Taking Sides'. Double EP this time around with a nice bonus remix stuck in for good measure...

The latest release on one of the most promising new dance music labels is finally here, or at least it will be in the next week as its been penned in for release very early in February. It's another outing for state side producer Jonothan Allyn on Pharmacy and has a lot of live up to from the success of Taking Sides'. He has built a mixture of trance and psy edging on the progressive side in terms of style and has a real talent for putting together floor tingling records. Label boss Christopher Lawrence single him out to be his ''Breakthrough DJ/Producer of 2009' which is a great accolade as that comes from one of the biggest DJ's in the world.

:: Fracture
:: Fracture (Big Room Remix)
:: Riochet
:: Taking Sides (Sean J Morris Remix)

Fracture edges on the progressive side but is elegantly built up once the beats get flowing. On the lead it’s a nice blend of solid kick drums and deep absorbing main beat with a tasty flow of percussion to go with it. The main lead builds up from the bass tone and slowly comes to the front with it building momentum until its ready to explode when the track breaks down. Sweeping FX ripple through while the melody starts to build up brought forward by symbol kicks and rolling beats. Spacey synth’s drum up around that melody that keeps feeding through the track until it makes a dive for the exit. I quite like the mood within this; it’s a little aggressive and built up with subtle changes that work with all the other elements. The Big Room Remix is not really a remix more an edit adding more layers into the rear end of the track to add some extra spice in, as the remix sates, the big room. Slight changes to the lead and percussion but not stripped bare and remixed by any means.

Riochet is all about the big synth changes and big style sound it creates. Similarly progressive but it’s a typical massive main leading key change right in the heart of the track that will get your attention. It’s typical for the style of sound that Jonothan Allyn has been pumping into his productions and sets throughout last year. The bass line is deep and rumbles along with an aggressive edge on it. The build here features spaced out sweeps of sound that work with the main key to be huge within the track. It’s one that on a big system will tear the place apart.

In a little bit of a bonus addition to this release they have thrown in a tidy remix of ‘Taking Sides’ by Sean J Morris who is no stranger to Pharmacy Music. I say tidy as it did not really do much for me and just seemed to lack a bit of energy to it. The bass line is a bit stubby but the floating keys within are a nice touch.

Conclusion:
Two progressive numbers here to have a look at but both with an engrossing quality that will catch your ear's attention. if I were to slap one on I'd edge out Riochet as it seems to deliver more impact than Fracture.
