You may have only just heard of Jan Oosydyk over the last year with his explosion throughout 2009 which saw Ferry Corsten and Sied Van Riel highlighting him as their 'Breakthrough producer of the year' in recent interviews for the DJ Mag Top 100 poll. He is no stranger to the music scene though as he has been involved in the scene for quite a few years and in the past even designed and built music studio's for some very big producers. If there were a person in your phonebook you would ring if you wanted to know what gear is best inserted into your studio set up, there would be nobody better than Jan to lend you a hand. It's through that knowledge that he has been perfecting his production skills himself over the years and came right into the public eye with tracks like 'Evissa Evissa' and 'Out Of The Box', which were big hits for him during last year with the likes of Ferry Corsten, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Gareth Emery, Paul van Dyk, Sied van Riel, Leon Bolier, John O’Callaghan and Sean Tyas just to mention a few.

This year will be one that should send Jan Oosydyk firmly into the premier league of dance music talent as he has some very big new tracks on the way. A few of those will be released on very well respect Dutch label Spinnin Records who know a good track when they see one. Aside from production, its also a good bet tpo check out his monthly podcast 'The Basement' which is available to download as well as broadcast online on all of the major dance music specialist radio stations. You never know, we may even have a special i:Vibes edition coming up for in the next t few weeks. We'll keep you posted on that. In the meantime, here is the very latest from Jan.

FORTHCOMING RELEASE: HEIDI

For trance enthusiasts the name Jan Oostdyk is starting to become a household name. It’s the name that represents the revival of the energetic, melodic trance that catapulted the style into its stardom at the end of the 90’s. After hits like Eivissa Eivissa, Out Of The Box and Ode To ’99 his new single, Heidi, promises to be even bigger and better. With early support from the number one dj in the world, Armin van Buuren, in his famous A State Of Trance radioshow (episode 440) and a nearby release on one of the world’s biggest dance labels (Spinnin’ Records) Jan Oostdyk is ready to conquer the world with Heidi.

The big follow up to Eivissa Eivissa has gained massive support in the early days of promotions. Only two days after sending it out to the A-list dj’s Heidi got confirmed supports from Judge Jules (BBC Radio One), Armin van Buuren (A State Of Trance), Dave Pearce (BBC), Giuseppe Ottaviani, Lange and Jochen Miller.

But that’s not all. In February and March of this year Oostdyk will be touring some of the best clubs in Asia to spread his view on trance on the other side of the World. Oostdyk always had the ambition to shoot for the highest possible thing. This goes for his productions, which are defined as the absolute top of the genre by Armin van Buuren & Ferry Corsten, and for his dj sets. “Everything just has to be right! You can’t give your fans some half finished product. Period. The productions have to be the best of the best and dj sets have to rock,” according to Oostdyk.

COLLABORATIONS INCOMING

Besides his solo career Oostdyk also collaborates with befriended and some very well known producers. In the near future a collaboration with Robert Smit, known from his earlier collaboration with System F, will be released at High Contrast Recordings, entitled Espana El Colore. After that a collaboration with Ron van den Beuken, of who Oostdyk has been a fan for a longtime, will see the daylight.

“Ron always has been one of my idols, specifically for the power and energy he manages to get into his music. Our collaboration is an ode to his old productions Endless and Timeless and is therefore called Shameless,” explains an enthusiastic Oostdyk. Shameless will be released in the spring on Spinnin’ Records.

BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST OF 2009

Oostdyk recently got some very good appreciation for his work. First of all he got crowned breakthrough artist of 2009 by Ferry Corsten & Sied van Riel in their interviews for DJMag, the most highly acclaimed dance magazine in the world. After that the members of Trance Podium, one of the biggest online trance communities, named him runner-up for new artist of 2009 and his single Out Of The Box placed fourth in the race for best track of the year.

COME DOWN TO THE BASEMENT

You would almost forget, but besides the busy tour schedule and all the producing Oostdyk still finds time to host his monthly podcast The Basement. “The show is broadcasted by over 18 radio stations worldwide and downloaded more every episode via my website www.janoostdyk.com,” Oostdyk says. “Every month there is an exclusive 20 minute guestmix by a well known or befriended dj and in the other 40 minutes the listeners get the typical Jan Oostdyk sound!
