That man Rafael Frost is at it again with his new single on Flashover Recordings 'Flashback'. One of the finest trance talents to hail from the Netherlands in recent years has delivered quite possibly his biggest track to date...
I've been a big fan of Rafael Frost for quite a few years now and I don't think you can blame me with tracks like 'Red', 'Blackbox', 'Boomerang' and his surprisingly good remake of a classic Bryan Adams track 'Run To You'. His sound is very unique with impacting tech trance beefed up with electro flavour to result in an all together uplifting sound that’s refreshing to even the purest ear. His new single on Ferry Corsten's Flashover Recordings is not only a real epic but his finest track to date, I think anyway. It has been very big in the sets of Tiesto, Jochen Miller, Rank 1 and Ferry Corsten in recent weeks just to name a few. Prepare the ears for an electronic battering, Frost style.
:: Flashover
It may well be only the single release but with a record as good as this I don’t think you need remixes insulting the original. Things begin steadily enough with the mix here, a dubbed down beat and flickering electric clicks. It soon starts to build as the beat gets deeper and things start to layer up, the opening leading riff plugs in some tasty FX while a sweetly hidden undertone starts to drive the euphoria forward. The way it's built up here is magnificent with rough, gritty, electric bars dropping in the background. When the main break comes, its greeted with a leading guitar style string that just plays possum to the huge melody that’s about to explode. When I say explode, it really does! The sound is huge and although drops off to bring in a short lead when the beat brings back you have this bright uplifting riff that stabs away at your with a nice effect. Things do break for a second time and lead with a nicely toned guitar string to bring things back to the beat and the outro. This one packed plenty of uplifting flavour when things start to pick up and the FX used to deliver the sound in here are done so to perfection!
Conclusion:
What we have hereis yet again another superb production from a producer who rarely chucks out a dud tune. The massive riff in here will eat your speakers alive but its worth putting them through it, they will thank you for it afterwards! Top marks for me on this one Rafael, great tune.
