The Dutch trance dynamo that's Phynn is going supersonic with his latest single EP on 2 Play Records under his Alpha Centauri guise. This one smashes through the sound barrier...
That's the puns down with, down to business. Phynn has enjoyed a fruitful rise to the top of the trance tree in recent years coming from a bedroom producer looking to make a name for himself to a fully distinguished producer in his own right. His sound has evolved over the years and his tracks essentials in many a top Trance DJ's sets. One of his biggest highlights was to mix together Black Hole Recordings 'In Trance We Trust' compilation, which shows the faith one of Holland’s biggest labels has in this young talent. On the production front he has brought swirling gems like 'Lucid', exotic riffs like 'High Tide' and in recent months uplifting thumpers like 'Spacewalk' and 'Starfire At Night'. For this new track, he's back on a Dutch label but presenting to you his alter ego Alpha Centauri.
:: Supersonic
Although you may frown on just the one mix for his latest venture through the sound barrier it’s a track that does not need any help to please the ear. On one count you have this tough, aggressive bass line, pushed on by tribal sounding drum's that have a great effect to them. Then on the other you have a high pitched synth driven lead over the top that sweeps louder with juicy bass changes underneath. On the break, it skews off into another direction altogether and sweep in a classical building string and just when you thing its all gone down tempo in rips a huge melody that’s rich with flavour, high on impact and pumped up with uplift. When the beat rolls back in again the melody is as sweet as you like and drops off to nice effect into the sound that built it up. Cutting the line between a ripping bassline that growls right in your ear and a super uplifting melody with real impact you have a well polished off trance track ready to blow the roof of any party.
Conclusion:
One of the best records from Phynn in recent months for me this and although just the single EP, its one that doesn’t need any assistance to warrant a purchase.
