This year will be 18 years in the business for Shindig who has been hosting parties for the music masses all over the UK. They will be hitting the road this year to celebrate with a host parties and some very big DJ's...
If there has been a house club in the UK you would put on your list as one of the best then Shindig would be right up there. They have been hosting house parties for 18 years now and show no signs of stopping, even through the difficult economic club conditions promoters face these days it’s to great respect the Shinndig name has survived through it all. They started out in a small 200 capacity venue in Newcastle back in the 90's and during the 12 years at that small intimate venue build up a reputation as one of the UK's best underground house clubs, campaigning a host of top artists and DJ's like Danny Rampling, Roger Sanchez and Deep Dish during the tenure.
It will be their Newcastle home that they will be kicking off a UK tour to celebrate 18 years in the business which will take them to some of the best clubs around the UK. Standing proud of a reputable 18 years cultivating club land, Shindig has trodden its own path from the old World Headquarters (Club Afrika) where it all began in the 90’s, to now celebrating a major milestone in throwing parties for its loyal mix of night crawlers.
Over two decades in its long and illustrious career, amid various walls and open spaces, Shindig has boxed an uncompromising vibe together with a genuine subculture that is cultivated not bought. Since way back in 1992, Shindig has been responsible for bringing the best talent across the House, Techno and Electronic worlds to the North East; Mention the term “House Music”, amongst Newcastle's proud cobbled alleys of clubbing and Shindig’s reputation will most certainly come up in conversation. Shindig are set to host two suitably special Newcastle events which kick off a UK Tour, celebrating their 18th Anniversary for the duration of 2010.
On Saturday 1st May, Claude Von Stroke will be blowing out the candles at World Headquarters in the good company of Get Physical and BBC Radio1’s Heidi. In the comfortable surroundings of downstairs, OOFT Music alongside the creative trio One20, will be providing deep‐as‐you‐like house, forgotten funk and more. This is followed by a return to Digital Newcastle on Friday 11th June with someone who’s been on board for the entire journey…Shindig is extremely proud to announce the long awaited return of Sasha, who will be joined by Tel Aviv’s finest tech export Guy J for what is set to be a date to remember in 2010’s clubbing calendar.
And if that wasn’t enough…
Shindig’s 2010 Tour powered by Pioneer will be visiting our favorite clubs and venues across the UK and as far as Dubai; rolling into Circus (Liverpool), Back To Basics (Leeds), Sankeys (Manchester), Yello (Belfast) Digital (Brighton & Newcastle) Ultragroove (Edinburgh) Koola (Newquay) Riff Raff (Middlesbourgh) and more to be confirmed with our tightly knit residents and uncompromising Shindig vibe.
As clubs come and go, with today’s scene a far cry from the early days of house music, what started as a small party for friends; has firmly stood the test of time …Shindig18 “Growing Old is Mandatory… Growing Up Is Optional…”
