LANGE GETS QUIZZED ON HARMONIC MOTION
To help promote the album Lange has undertaken numerous interviews from across the globe.
We’ve collated some of the best Q&As to give you more of an insight into the forthcoming release …
Q. Lange: Can you describe the sounds of your new album “Harmonic Motion“ what’s been different about this album journey for you?
The album is quite a mixed variety of sounds but if anything, it’s much more trancey than my first album ‚‘Better Late Than Never‘. It is primarily grooved Trance with some tracks pulling in electro / classical / techno / downtempo /Indie rock / 80s influences.
Q: We can see that the tracklist contained many featuring vocalists from across the genres. Is the Lange style now more vocal-trance-electro-progressive or we can await also several experiments?
The album is split 50/50 between instrumental and vocal tracks. I wanted to ensure I worked with the best vocalists and the key thing for me was that their styles are different, inspiring me to produce music in different directions. There are a couple of ‘experimental’ tracks on the album, one being ‘Angel’ with vocals from ‘The Hall Of Mirrors’. The vocals are very unique, and exactly what I was looking for to create some interesting direction changes on the album. Like with my first album’ Better Late Than Never’, I’ve tried to make something worth listening to at home as well as including many club tracks.
Q: Your new single and the first release from your new album ‘Harmonic Motion’ is called ‘Live Forever’ and features one of Trance’s best known singers - Emma Hewitt. With ‘Live Forever’ sat at #1 in the Beatport Trance Chart for the last couple of weeks did you realise how big the track was when you wrote it?
I was pleased with the track when I’d finished it and Emma’s vocals are really special. It was actually one of the first tracks I finished for the album and I’ve been spinning it in live shows for quite some time now. I had a feeling from reactions on the dancefloor that it might do well, but of course you never know! – it’s always a pleasant surprise when both your peers and the clubbers show their approval for your music.
Q: ‘Harmonic Motion’ features a curiously titled track ‘Wie Komme Ich Am Besten Zum Bahnhof Bitte’ which we’ve roughly translated as ‘How is Best to Get to Bahnhof’. What’s story behind this?
I studied German for a year at school, and this is the only full phrase that ever stuck in my head; in English it translates to ‘how can i get to the train station’. The track itself is quite driving and monotonous and it builds and builds. For some reason it sparked a vision of a train hurtling through the studio!
Q: The album is also supported by some stunningly beautiful visuals! What is the idea behind this and will they be carried into your live shows as well? The concept for the album cover artwork came from the title. A basic idea of circles was built on by our graphic designer and 3d modeler. Yes, we have commissioned visuals for the tour, and they have turned out really well! It’s great when you get the chance to work with so many artistic people in bringing a project together!
