DJ Nukem pops up with yet another storming release on imago records to maintain his status amongst the top producers to date!..check this review to see what its all about......>
Nukem, renowned for his menacing but yet funky tribal progressive, has produced some of the most played tracks on the circuit over the past year or two. Releases such as 'deepest level' took progressive deeper than ever. This track maintains the structure and standards that he has set for himself. A mixture of a chugging bass and nukem'esque effects makes me think this too will be caned!
A SIDE: Vocal mix B SIDE: Deep mix
A SIDE: This side showed me another side to nukem that i havent seen too much of. Great opening which includes the vocal of Jamie Wong Li "but everytime i get closer-you seem to be a bit far away". The track flows to a nice little melody which starts over in a new fashion changing the direction of the track. It gets a little more upbeat and intense leading to the main break around the half way stage. Deep synths contrast Jamie hitting the spot with that same vocal. A teasing increase in sound drops to nothing to leave you wondering whats coming, then it rolls on and chuggs along in a cheeky manor. Excellent combination!
B SIDE: The track opens in similar fashion to that of 'deepest level', same nukem bassline is accompanied by swirling effects to set the mood for the whole track to come. An ever creeping synth leads into the first breakdown-echoing the main effects of those previosuly mentioned. The track kicks back in with a meaningful drive. It begins to layer and timed high hats give the track an extra edge. The main breakdown introduces soom nice almost electronic stabs, with a sound that matches that of jimmy van m 'sanctuary'. A superb build unleashes the energy to take it to a nice close!
This track is firmly in my box and wont be moving for a long while. The two records give a nice mix of dark and sinister beats for you to be able to add anywhere in a good progressive set. Top notch again Nukem.
