Andy Farley has been involved in the Hard House scene for over 20 years and to celebrate he's been digging out classics that time's forgotten. This is Andy Farley's historic look back at Hard House...
If you’re looking for one of the true legends of Hard House one name that would come into conversation would be Andy Farley. For over twenty years he has been pushing through the sound that you might have forgot exists amongst all today's Hard Dance variations. Drop back about ten years and the Hard House explosion was huge, similar to the Trance epidemic back in 1999 with compilations popping up everywhere. The sound was around before then though; one legend that is now sadly not with us is the never forgotten Tony De Vit. His sets at legendary hard house club 'Trade' cemented his name in history as one of Hard House's most iconic names.
Andy Farley is a man who knows all about the history of the music as he has been on the name who has written it. It's with this compilation that he went track hunting for the true lost gems of Hard House from over that twenty years in the scene. What he has come up with is a double disc jammed with explosive audio packed with more energy than a Red Bull factory. On a personal note, and yes this is not a press release, the older sound for Hard House (Or Hard Dance if as most call it these days) had an irresistible edge that makes today's offerings seem very lacklustre in comparison. Maybe it was just the case of the best tracks being the most simple, not over complicating things with layers upon layers of percussion.
If you ever want a compilation with pure Hard House anthems on nit then this is it. It’s been given top marks in IDJ Magazine and is Mixmag’s ‘Compilation of The month’ in the current edition out at the moment. It doesn’t surprise me as Andy Farley is a producer and DJ who has defined what the sound should be over the years and no doubt will continue to do in the future.
