Strap yourself in because it's time for Rush Hour...the compilation! Christopher Lawrence guides you through a few highlights from his monthly radio show as well as the very latest underground Trance at his disposal...
Christopher Lawrence needs very little introduction to most electronic music fans as he is an acclaimed worldwide artist and producer. As a DJ there are very few places where he has not played at, as a producer he may not have had a massive amount of releases, if you compare them to the amount of a few other top name starts who have been around the scene for the years he has, but the quality of what he produces makes up for the quantity. He is working on an artist album at the moment as he dished out in our interview with him a few weeks ago but it’s a little way off from completion yet. His next release though is already out now and it comes in the form of ‘Rush Hour’ the compilation. You may know about Rush Hour already with it being the name for his monthly radio show that showcases the very latest in trance, focusing more on the underground sound and psy styles. It’s the first release in what I’m sure will be as successful series as his radio show and going on what we’ve heard that’s a sure fire thing.
RELEASE DATE: OUT NOW!

I've been waiting a while for this compilation in all honesty as I first heard rumours about it a few months ago. Being a very big fan of his monthly 'Rush Hour' show the compilation edition had the audio senses excited. Thankfully, after giving it a full on road test for the past two weeks I that anticipation has not been let down by the finished article, not that I had any worries that it would be anyway. This is Christopher Lawrence we are talking about who eats good music for breakfast! The thing that I enjoy so much about Christopher Lawrence is his music is real breathe of fresh air, he goes into a mixture between the traditional sound of trance and then pushes into the psycadelic sound that's very much an underground taste and will always be I think. Even though this is a Rush Hour compilation, its not just one that’s picked out the very best from episodes gone by but just feeds in a few and then unloads with new, unheard material, at least on Rush Hour so far anyway.
If I have a look into the artist's that Mr Lawrence has put into this super hot mix there are three that stand out as familiar names. Cor Fijneman has been around for a long time and his 'Listen' track in here is one of the highlights for me early on in the mix. The impact that he creates with the melody here just blows your ears apart and adds a euphoric feel early on in the mix. The two other names would of course be John Askew with 'Bad Apple', upcoming new producer Danny Powers adds a drop of energetic juice to proceedings with his mix. Steve Birch is the third, an artist thought very highly of by Lange and many other a well know name and its not surprising especially with tracks like 'Snozzle Snout' that he's dropped an edit of for this release. Looking at the rest its a bit of an into the unknown for me but as with his radio show that's not a bad thing.
There are two sides to this mix, which I think has been put in to drop in the contrast he likes to deliver with the radio show. Start off with more melodic sounds and then feed the mix into a full on Psy trance explosion that will tear apart the mind. The robotic and just crazy style of the Psy sound is very addictive and one which Christopher only picks the finest from. One favourite as the mix starts to heat up for me is a track by Corona called 'Amore & Psyche' with a thunderous rolling bass line and sticky pads, bursting metallic waves and an aggressive edge. Amongst all that Psy influence you do get some hugely uplifting builds and melodies as with Tazix & Allya feat. Nick Sentience 'Follow Me', which has a perpetual drive going through it and is bursting with energy with the main chord that's superb. Nick Sentience is a guy who has gone into the more Psy style of things these days having been known for a more 'Hard Dance' kind of guy back in the Nukleuz days.
Conclusion:
This is a mix that will not just get the ear drums moist; it’s going to soak them through! Packed with the style of sound you can find in his monthly editions featuring a few favourites from the show and a host of red hot new trance, it's a sensational mix from start to finish from one of the biggest DJ & producers in the world!
