© Be Yourself MusicThis Friday, the 23rd of July, as dawn breaks over the seaside surround of Ko³obzeg on Poland’s north coast, the Sunrise Festival will rise up from the ground. A recent graduate to the global A-list EDM festival circuit, it is the biggest outdoor music event in the country.

Now talked about in the same breath as Nature One, Dance Valley, Creamfields and Tomorrowland, it will bring in world-class DJs and acts, and draw in over 30,000 clubbers from every corner to power it through final July weekend.

As great as festivals are though they have one substantial drawback: they only last a couple of days. With some well-placed assistance though those memories can last forever and that’s where forward-looking electronic dance music label High Contrast come in. They have teamed-up Sunrise to release the festival’s as-essential-as-being-there 2010 compilation companion…

To engrain the sound & spirit of the event into the release, High Contrast have recruited two of their tip-of-the-spear Sunrise spinners to bring the festival experience back...

Flying the flag for the trance corner is Cliff Coenraad – a man whose persona beams out originality and ingenuity and someone who can pump funk into the most minimal of productions. Leading out his mix with production wunder-team Nic Chagall, Rank 1 & Wippenberg’s club-decimator ‘100’, he maps an early tough trip around the suburbs of techno & tech-trance. Dave Schiemann’s ‘Elements’, Christian Fischer dark ‘n’ long ‘Wildsleep’ and his own ‘Ticked off by Default’ all pour fuel on the floor-fire. Halfway through Cliff begins to amp up the pressure and starts working in the main-floor, big-room guns, with tracks like of Ali Wilson’s ‘Pandora’, Marco V & Benjamin Bates all-tranced-up ‘WTNF’ and his own official Sunrise Festival 2010 anthemMassive’ making the speakers sweat..

Sunrise is as much about house as it is trance and to fully reflect that flavour, Netherlands sensation Hardwell takes control of the mix for the second disc. Kicking off in big form with his 2010 rolling piano-vs-synths spin on Red Carpet’s anthem ‘Alright’, he takes the listener on an 80 minute round-the-world journey that starts with cool, summer-style grooves… and gradually works its way up and up… Alex van Alff & Errol Reid latest Big & Dirty release ‘I Never Knew Love’, Daniel Portman’s reformation of Marco V & Khashassi’s ‘Scenario’ and the Tiësto-champed ‘Switched’ by Nicky Romero all get their moment in the sun. Hardwell’s big own one-two of ‘Smoke’ & ‘Molotov’ comes under the laser before Disc 2 climaxes with Dada Life’s stabby, wonderfully-unhinged electro-avalanche ‘Cookies With a Smile’.

The festival’s unique DNA is available now at your download portal or CD shop. To deny yourself one is to deny yourself part of summer itself!
