 The DJ Poll every artist wants to be top of has come around very quickly with the 2010 polls open for you to cast your vote on just who is the greatest DJ in the world this year...
It does sure come around quickly the annual DJ Mag Top 100 poll with Armin van Buuren ready to defend his position as the most popular DJ in the world. It's an award that he first won in 2007 and has been top of for the past three years in a row having knocked Paul van Dyk off the top spot. In an industry where there are so many talented names the Top 100 highlights the most popular in the world right now, not necessarily the greatest or even the most talented. Gaining a good position in the poll every DJ would like to be in can be very fruitful for future success.
The Poll does indicate what music style is doing the business for dance music fans at the current moment in time. In recent years the top end of the poll has been dominated by Trance artists like Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz and Gareth Emery. House legends like John Digweed, Sasha and Nick Warren who used to sit high up in the rankings have slipped down in recent times. The reason’s for this? There could be many but lack of talent, musical taste or production skills are certainly not why. Who will be the trend setters for this year?
The marketing machines are gearing up for a very long campaign with the polls opening tomorrow (28th July) and running right up to September 23rd, prepare you mailboxes a real bashing in the weeks to come. Plenty of time to decide then who deserves your vote to be the DJ Mag Top 100 number one DJ of 2010.
