One of the masters of the Balearic sound drops in with his monthly update featuring two new singles, his latest tour reviews and a very special 'Magic Island' in concert event which takes his live concept to the next evolution...
If you have been in the presence of a live Rogar Shah set you will know it’s a little different from most DJ's with his 'Live' concept taking his performances beyond just simply mixing tracks together. I can remember watching footage not so long ago at a Technoclub event he actually took the keyboard out into the crowd and played the melody of the track playing on the dance floor. Although he won’t be doing that with his new concept he will be hosting a six hour concert featuring live productions and vocalists from some of the most recognised voices on the scene. The end result should be immensely compelling to see and we should see his first concert by the end of the year, although more will be announced on the details next month. In the meantime he has two new singles for you to check out and takes a look back at his previous gigs through Australia and South America.
Roger Shah: In Concert
Roger is pleased to announce the next elevation to his on-stage performances this month with first details of Magic Island: In Concert. Featuring the label’s best known, leading-vocal-lights live on stage, the Balearic king will ringmaster the six hour Mexico-based spectacular in an immense inflatable club dome. Over its course Inger Hansen ('‘Don’t Wake Me Up’), Zara Taylor (‘Lost’ / ’Found'), Adrina Thorpe (‘Who Will Find Me’ / ’Back To You’), Lorilee (‘You’re So Cool’ & ‘I’m Not God’), and Chris Jones (‘Going Wrong’ / ‘To The Sky’) will all add their unique voices to the ultimate Magic Island sound experience. If you’re one of the world’s Balearic People this will unquestionably be a night you cannot miss. More details to follow next month. DJ Mag 2010 Poll – Voting Begins
DJ Magazine cut the ribbon on their 2010 search for the Top 100 spinning elite yesterday. In 2009 Roger was delighted to make a formidable 37 place jump up to the no.21 position. It’s technically impossible for him to do the same this year (!) but we’d certainly love to see him rise up again. So if you’ve been out and about, seen Roger play, picked up one of the albums, compilations or Magic Island releases or enjoyed the radio show over the last 12 months and felt like popping his name in one of those ballot boxes, well it would certainly put a smile on his face! DJ Magazine Voting Page Here! Roger Shah & Tenishia ft Lorilee - Catch A Cloud
Magic Island is always in season, but maybe during the summer months it’s just the tiny bit more so! Roger’s label has two platinum floor-bullets keen to join your mp3 collection in late July/early August. Lightning has already struck twice for the teaming of Shah, Tenishia and Lorilee with their aforementioned floor-vaporizers ‘You’re So Cool’ & ‘I’m Not God’. Can it happen a third time with ‘Catch A Cloud’? DJ Mag think so, saying in their August edition that: “Lorilee’s sweetly convincing vocal lands this in August’s ‘must-listen’ pile”.

More high-seas titled trancery as Roger and legendary producer Ralph ‘Fridge’ Fritsch step aboard the Black Pearl for their new odyssey. ‘Discovery’ has just set sail on its promo trail and its strident, stirring pipes will no doubt be making their mark on dancefloors very soon indeed. Roger and Ralph’s original mix is brilliantly supported by Swedish wunderkinder Kim Svärd, who makes sure that ‘Discovery’s melodics are similarly well nourished!

Roger has again been on the road and touring intensively... In June, as part of Oz party leaders Future Music’s country-wide excursion, he played the Perth leg of Godskitchen’s tour at the Metro City auditoria to a 2000+ sell out crowd. From there he moved on to do very much the same at We Love Sounds in Sydney and then spun two nights at Winter Sound System in Bribane and Melbourne. Into July and the month saw him touch down for two balmy nights in Brazil, performing at Club Nox in Recife before tracking down the coast to Porto Alegre for their Gatecrasher night. Engines turning Roger then hopped over the border to play the Armada night in Buenos before returning to south-of-Sao-Paulo spot Curitiba for one final night of Magic Island majesty. If you came to see him, he sends you hearty thanks!
