The first release for VANDIT under their new partnership with Armada is a celebration for their 10th anniversary as VANDIT. They have dug out two old classics re-worked by Orla Feeney and Kyau & Albert...

This is somewhat of a landmark release for the world famous VANDIT label. It's the first since they joined up with the Armada network, after being an independent label for 10 very successful years before; Paul van Dyk felt the need to take the label to the next level. If anyone in the world of electronic dance music can do that, it’s the powerhouse that is Armada with Armin van Buuren at the helm. The VANDIT label is 10 years old this year and over the course of that decade they have released some epic music that will forever go down as classics for years to come. For their first appearance on Armada they have dug out two of their old releases and handed the task of remixed them to Orla Freeney and Kyau & Albert. It's safe to say, they have no disappointed with their efforts.

Cat No: VAN2001

:: Modulation - Spirits (Kyau & Albert Remix)
:: Solid Sleep - Club Attack (Orla Freeney Remix)

The first weapon from the VANDIT armory is a track originally released back in 2003 by Modulation called 'Sprrits'. It was a record that was hammered by Paul van Dyk during that time and embraced by music lovers the world over. It's his fellow German's Kyau & Albert who have had the honour of putting a fresh note of sound on the original. The original was a dreamy piece of trance with an unforgettable melody and for the new update those original elements have not been messed with. The duo have put their trademark percussion underneath and created a smooth perpetual flow on the lead up to the main melody. The impact here is anything more prominent than the original back in the day for me. Little tweaks before the melody hits, the click on the kicks and the strong beat throughout make for a very irresistible remix.

If you have never heard the first remake in this twin pack of updates then you will have surly heard the second. TPOD ring any bells? Solid Sleep's epic 'Club Attack' is a record I have on the original VANDIT 12" and one that’s treasured immensely in the collection. Released in 2001 and one of the early releases on the VANDIT label it came from another German producer, well two in fact. The remake duties have been left to one of the labels rising talents Orla Freeney who has a very tough edge style to trance music. It's a style that suits the aggressive nature of Club Attack right down to the ground. The remake keeps in the engrossing main melody chords that choke your ears out with pure enjoyment but there is a tech induced blend to the intro. After the melody hits, it brakes and in drops a deep monotonic riff. Underline that with shuffling bursts of hats and kicks behind the bass line and you have a tough tech edge to an all time VANDIT classic.

Conclusion:
A storng start to the VANDIT / Armada link up and a great way to celebrate 10 years by unearthing new mixes of label classics. The formula for each has not been messed with to much and you love the new energy thats bursting out of these new mixes. It's EP number one, we wonder what the next one will be.
