One of the most prestigious compilation series in dance music is about to notch up its 39th release. Global Underground are proud to welcome back Dave Seaman...
It’s been just over nine years since the Global Underground compilation series embraced the Dave Seaman name but that is about to change with the release of their brand new flagship edition. The latest will be number 39 in a series that spans well over a decade, and has grown to be one of the most iconic within the industry and mixed by only the world’s finest electronic artists. Previous names to have given the compilation its very good name in year’s gone by include Nick Warren, Paul Oakenfold, the late Tony De Vit and the man responsible for its latest incarnation Dave Seaman.
The series over the years has taken on very much a house orientated style with many variations represented over the 38 editions gone so far. Each takes its inspiration from a certain place on the globe by each of the artists chose to mix it. The previous release was fro Techno god Carl Cox who used the Black Rock desert as his inspiration for two discs of the finest Techno he has in his record box, CD wallet or memory stick! Dave Seaman takes on Lithuania for his compilation mix; a place you may not think has a very big dance culture but it has been a real gem for European clubbers who have attended the acid house spirited parties over the past few years. It’s a place Global, Underground took a trip across to back in July for the Exit Summer Residence in Palanga on the Baltic Sea and part of this compilation was inspired by that very night.
It’s a welcome return for Dave Seaman, former head in chief of UK dance publication Mixmag, who mixed his first Global Underground eleven years ago with number 12, taking on Buenos Aires for his inspiration. He is a name that you just automatically related to Global Underground and an artist many people in the scene have the upmost respect for. You will find a few of his new tunes spread across the two discs on here and for a little taster of what’s to come have a gander at his mini documentary which features music from the album and comment from those involved within the scene. Dave himself talks you through just what makes Lithuania such a bubbling clubbing hot spot.
