The event that will toast the worlds best DJ as voted for by the dance music public across the world will be erupting this October with a duel night run at Sankets in Machester and first of all at the world famous Ministry of Sound in London...
This year’s event to toast the world’s number one DJ as voted for by the readers of DJ Mag has been expanded to two events run on the same evening. It seems that the huge success and growth of the poll every DJ wants to be in just can't be contained by just the one night. For this year, they will be holding the award parties at the Ministry of Sound down in the UK's capital London, then heading up north to Sankey's in Manchester to round the evening off. I say round the evening off but both events will be kicking off around 9PM and running into the small hours, with the winner of this year's poll being first announced at the Ministry of Sound, to play their first set of the night at just before midnight. Then before they even have the chance to mingle with the thousands in attendance they will be whisked on a plane and sent all the way up north to Manchester to play another set for the night at Sankeys.
It’s the biggest party DJ Mag has ever hosted for the award which thousands of electronic DJ’s from around the world want to be number one. Armin van Buuren has won it for the past three years following on from former top dogs Paul van Dyk and Tiesto. Trance has been the dominating music style for the past few years and this year I’m sure will be no exception, does the move to a night at Sankey’s mean Gareth Emery is well placed in this year’s poll? It’s a place he has pushed his DJ career and his Garuda club night to the next level over the years and would be the perfect venue to toast winning the number one spot.
The best feature for this year’s DJ Maga awards is that they have teamed up with b@TV to broadcast the night live on the night through www.be-at.tv. This means you can watch the icon Boy George, who has not been without his problems in recent years, present the awards for this year’s winners. He will be toasting the winner at around 11.30PM and if you're not live in attendance you can catch it all live thanks to the link up with b@TV. It’s looking to be one of the biggest nights in the magazine’s history and as you would expect they have booked a line up full of the worlds top electronic talent for both clubs.#
