The event may have dropped the 'Trance' tag for next year but it will still be one of the biggest dance music events for 2011 I'm sure. It should be seeing who they've got to spin a few tunes come this February
As a Trance fan it was sad to see the end of 'Trance Energy', as we know it anyway, for it's been replaced with just the 'Energy'. Opening up one of the biggest event's to a new platter of electronic styles. It's very much anything goes, house, techno and of course still trance. There mission statement about the change see's the even evolving nature of Trance as it adapts different styles and spreads into new forms. In a sense, they are right, but Trance will always be Trance, it's just like anything else in life in which it develops as time goes on. Anyway, this update is not a debate on musical styles its one with all the artists currently confirmed for the new 'Energy 2011' event to be held at Jaarbeurs, Utrecht over in Holland on the 19th February.
It's looking pretty good so far with a tasty spread of established and new electronic talent on show..
CONFIRMED ARTISTS
Tiësto Sander van Doorn Ferry Corsten Avicii Marco V ATB Sander Kleinenberg Simon Patterson Jochen Miller AN21 Eddie Halliwell Wippenberg Tocadisco Kutsky Moguai Lange Airbase Hardwell Wolfgang Gartner
It's a welcome return to the event for Tiesto who the early Trance fan will remember when he spun an epic set at the 1999 event, then as 'DJ' Tiesto. He is a good example of an artist who still has trance in his mind but has evolved his sound to be so much more. Love him or hate him, he still pulls the crowds in and you never know, he might whack out a few old classics from the late 90's as a 'Trance Energy' farewell. If he doesn’t, you've got Lange, Simon Patterson, Ferry Corsten and Airbase for good company.
