Techno pioneer Orlando Voorn re-releases The Nighttripper project

© Orlando Voorn One of the most influential founders of the Dutch techno scene, Orlando Voorn, will re-release two of his biggest singles under his alter ego The Nighttripper end of 2010 with brand new mixes.

In collaboration with Dutch techno imprint Underground Liberation, Orlando Voorn presents the rebirth of “Tone Exploitation” and “Phuture”, still considered as all time techno classics, in new versions by an exciting list of techno producers. Respectively end of November 2010 and mid December 2010, “Tone Exploitation” and “Phuture” will be globally available as a vinyl release and as digital download.

Orlando Voorn was one of the first Dutch musicians to establish a vital connection between Detroit and Amsterdam in the early 90’s and has long been recognized as one of the Netherland’s most original and ingenious producers in the world of electronic dance music. At a young age, Orlando Voorn was discovered by Dutch Radio host Robin Albers who was in charge of the Dutch DMC DJ Championship 1986. Surprisingly Voorn placed first in the Dutch competitions 1986 and 1987 for Holland which placed him in the world championships of DMC twice in the United Kingdom where he came in 3rd place and 5th place. His characteristic blend of hip hop and electro music in his DJ sets soon were translated into his first productions, released under Fixomatic in the late 80’s.

His extensive discography consists of an outstanding amount of releases, vastly contributing to both the Dutch as well as the international techno scene and are effortlessly able to level with Detroit’s finest such as Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. The list of labels carrying Orlando Voorn productions and remixes is impressive to say the least. Derrick May’s label Fragile, Juan Atkins’ imprint Metroplex, Kevin Saunderson’s KMS, Richie Hawtin’s label Plus 8, techno institution R&S Records, the German label Low Spirit Recordings and Dutch flag bearer of techno ESP is just a small tip of the immense iceberg.

Showing his visionary versatility, Orlando Voorn goes behind a string of alter egos. As Format #1 (Solid Session), Frequency (Where is Your Evidence, Kiss the Sky), Playboy (In Da Jungle), Fix (Flash) and The Nighttripper (Tone Exploitation, Phuture), Orlando Voorn reached immortal status with all tracks mentioned still being caned during DJ sets on classic house events. With the re-release of Tone Exploitation and Phuture as The Nighttripper, Orlando Voorn is sure to once again carve a path in the international techno landscape.

Orlando Voorn and Underground Liberation selected none the less than a.o. Kevin Saunderson, Ken Ishii, Robert Armani, Luke Slater (Planetary Assault Systems), Robert Hood, Ben Sims, DJ T-1000, Suburban Knight and Ritzi Lee to deliver new versions of Tone Exploitation and Phuture. These remix packs, to be released separately, will respectively be available end November 2010 and mid December 2010 in music stores worldwide on limited vinyl, and as digital download on globally acclaimed portals like iTunes, Beatport, Traxsource and Juno Download. © Orlando Voorn
