Aeron Aether and his studio partner Mango enlist the aid of songwriter and vocalist duo the Civil Servants for this latest outing on Silk Royal Records. Remixes on cue from PROFF, Sundriver and Crayons...

One of the most vibrant and energetic progressive labels to gather pace this year has been the Silk Royal label. Their main focus on delivering genre bending progressive beats spread across a platter of different sub labels, each delivering their own individual style and tempo. Their new release on Silk Royal Records, which focuses on the progressive house / trance style of sound, brings together two solo producers Aeron Aether and Mango. Aeron hails from Hungary and Mango is based over in Russia. Their collaboration this time around enlists the aid of the Civil Servants, a duo with song writing and vocalist talent very much in abundance. They provide the story and vocal foreground for the duo’s production backdrop. For those who like their progressive with plenty of feeling to it you will find it in here. The mix of different styles is a welcome contrast with remixes from PROFF, Sundriver and Crayons.

If you were ever in need of a bit of a warm up on these cold winter evenings its music like this which does the job. The Original is a very well produced piece of progressive music full of soft light elements keeping in tone with the vocal telling the story throughout. The lead is nicely worked in with subtle percussion and a warm bouncy main beat filtered on top with the vocal. On the first short break it’s a simple short chord which provides the focus while a soft sweeping melody flutters in around it. The vocal is nicely worked into this one, with the main break sweetly done to echo it out and just drop the chord that lead up to start building back the other elements. The melody is a relaxing entity, as is the overall track touched with the soft vocal that’s not to overpowering.

The Original is a nice track but for me it’s the remixes which drew my attention more. PROFF does a striking job with his; very moody, atmospheric elements kicking in right from the word go. From the start bass heavy and just itching with lightly touched pads and sweeps. It’s way he effects the sounds by blending them down and just how delicate and precise the keys go with the ever flowing melody that make it addictive. The main beat and percussion are in tone with everything else and even without using the vocal he’s caught the mood of the original bang on. Mood is something which Sundriver drives into his mix like no tomorrow. It’s progressive house with a deep, rich and groovy bass line that’s irresistible to the ear. My favourite mix in here by far with a true old house flavour to it and a melody dubbed down to match the deeper mood. When he comes to deliver the main melody right at the heart it’s just a choice weather you embrace the vocal or not as with two different mixes the choice is yours. I’d chuck the dub on, just for the pure joy of the production. The Crayons mix picks things up a little and delivers a slight 80’s take on the production sound. It’s his brightly sparked melody and crisp vibrant tones that give it the 80’s feel, progressively flowed along of course.

Conclusion:
When it comes to the progressive sound to make you sit back and just forget, Silk Royal When it comes to the progressive sound to make you sit back and just forget, Silk Royal has got it done to an audio art form with some of their releases. This new one is as strong as any with plenty of remix support to drive through differing flavours for the track, but with each embracing the same mood and feeling. Into your soft tinted progressive? Check this one out.
