 Producers and DJs Warren Fellow and Michel Steinbach have joined forces once again to collaborate on an emotive reworking of Todd Terry's classic anthem House Is A Feeling.
The result, Got A Soul, is an ambitious and creative musical assault that nonetheless gives the original the respect it deserves.
Tackling a record belonging to a true house legend such as Todd 'the God' Terry is not a task to be undertaken lightly. Yet the duo have come up trumps in creating the perfect balance between referential and truly fresh, making their reverent nod to the past with eyes fixed firmly on the future.
The result is a dancefloor banger that sounds bang up to date and completely belongs in the new era house canon. Their use of the rousing speech sample is inspired - after letting the track build for a while the proclamations of the speaker slot in perfectly. It is undoubtedly the kind of oratory talent designed to whip up the audience into a passionate frenzy, and once this type of elevation is added to a pounding dance track even the coldest-hearted of audiences will feel elevated and enthused.
This track combines a little bit of funk with reams of heavy bass and a stack-load of soul to make for a truly fantastic listen. Warren Fellow and Michel Steinbach have done themselves proud on this record, and with support already shown from Todd Terry himself amongst many others they should deservedly see this tune go supernova. Other big names on the support list includes Gregor Tresher and Joris Voorn.
