Bobina Update

While it’s that time again to take a reflective look back at the months quickly gone by it's also a time to look forward to the New Year. There's a little bit of both in this months update from Bobina with news that his next artist album is due out before the summer season next year. He is most widely noted for being the biggest trance DJ in Russia so I can only imagine he has world domination planned for the next twelve months. For the last few days of 2010 though, he's been looking back at the past twelve gone and highlighted some memorable milestones of 2010.

2010: Bobina's Year In Review

It’s been another visa-sorting, passport-stamping, flight-grabbing, gig-rocking, mini-bar emptying 365 days in the life of Bobina. As 2010’s almost at an end the Bobina Monthly News thought it'd take a look back at the year that (almost) was and remind ourselves of exactly what Russia’s no.1 deck wrangler's been up to throughout.

January: back in the first month of the year Dima announced that he’d signed to the PFA DJ agency. We anticipated a lot more Bobina action globally, which was exactly what happened!

March: and Dmitry uploads the first episode of his new brainchild… BobinaTV. A fly-on-the-wall view of his escapades, the first one saw him make the (seemingly) simple transfer down the coast from NYC to DC. Nails were bitten & hair was torn as things went all ‘planes, trains and automobiles’!

April: Angel of the North – Bobina's big track of 2010 – made first contact with the airwaves. Dmitry also announced he’d be headlining Global Gathering Russia.

May: The 4th installment of Bobina’s Russia Goes Clubbing compilation album is unleashed. In and amongst the audio artillery is music from Nic Chagall, Sander van Doorn, and Dash Berlin & remixes from Ashley Wallbridge, Ronski Speed and Jorn van Deynhoven.

June: Having proved an instant hit, Episodes 2 & 3 of BobinaTV follow in quick succession. 2 took the viewer to South Africa for the H20 Festival while Pt.3 headed back State-side. After 1's (spoiler alert if you’ve not yet seen Ep.1!) missed attempts to make it to Glow in DC, there is only one final destination for our Dmitry…

July: ‘Angel of the North’ keeps getting bigger and bigger and, having crossed the 60,000 plays mark on Russian radio, the video is launched. The Sabrina Altan vocalled smash begins to rack up the view counters on YouTube just as quick.

August: Bobina sets off on a marathon 8-date East to West coast tour of North America. NYC, The OC, San Fran, Seattle, Calgary, Houston, and Washington all get a piece of the action. Dmitry also announces that he is to play to an audience in front of 1000s in Lubyanskaya Sq for Moscow Day.

October: For the third year in a row Bobina shoots into DJ Magazine’s hallowed Top 100 DJs chart – coming in at this year’s no. 25. Accompanied by a formidably-sized Russian bear (which he somehow manages to coax into an ArminOnly t-shirt!) he thanks his fans in his own inimitable style.

November: Along with its Ali Wilson remix, the original of 'Angel of the North' is finally released. ‘Two Capitals’ the fourth episode of BobinaTV brings the Lubyanskaya Sq/Moscow Day & St Petersburg gigs to desktops everywhere.

December: A message from Dmitry: "girls & guys, its been an incredible year. I've played some amazing places and met many incredible people. It's been a blast! I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year. I'll be back very early in 2011 with a new compilation and later on into it, I'll be releasing my new artist album. It's going to be equally as exciting and I look forward to seeing all those familiar faces out there in 2011!"

Catch Bobina On NYE!

Hard as it may be to imagine this New Years Eve will see Bobina play in his home city of Moscow... for the very first time! He'll be doing a very special 3hr set at PIPL so if you're finding yourself in the Russian capital this New Years Eve 1) wrap up warm & 2) get down there. He's promising something extra special to see 2011 with!

‘ResuRection' - PPK vs. Bobina Remix & The Forthcoming Album

Dima has done a club-busting refresh of that legendary chart-topping bleep-fest, ‘ResuRection’. PPK vs. Bobina’s ‘ResuRection 2010’ has already been scoring big plays from Armin, Ferry, Oakey and many others and you can lay first ears on it by checking Episode 4 of Bobina TV. In other music news Bobina has confirmed that 2011 will be an artist album year for him, with his new long-player likely to appear in the second quarter of the coming 365. Nice!
