 The leader of the Subculture network John O'Callaghan will be dropping his new artist LP this April and for the artistic people out there he's running a competition for you to design the cover...
Some would say that John O’Callaghan is the biggest trance DJ in Ireland right now. I would disagree with that, he’s one of the biggest in the world for me not just his country of Ireland. To date he’s had two artist albums showing the world his production skills are every bit as good as his DJ skills. The first was really just a compilation of his best tracks far rather than a full blown EP, but his second ‘Never Fade Away’ was his true artist LP debut. It was a trance at heart long player but with techno elements and drawing influences from other styles to give John’s productions and edgy variety. Good news folk, he’s working on a third and seeing as this it due out in April he can’t have much work left to do on it. The name of this forthcoming beast is 'Unfold'.
While he may be way ahead with the music for the album he’s still got all the artwork to do yet, but that is where you come in. He’s opening up the cover design to you to create the face of his third artist album.
“Hey guys, what a couple of years it has been! Since my last album, my life has been crazy – travelling constantly and also having a new member of my family (my son Jack) … and I have seen some amazing places around the world. For me “Unfold” means a lot of things, mainly the unfolding of my musical career and production mind, growing and developing constantly – this is something I hold close to my heart. Also on a personal level my life away from the music has unfolded with my wonderful son Jack, which has brought many new aspects to my life. I believe that production is about learning and expanding, and letting your mind unfold. So, best of luck with the artwork- cant wait to see it! Cheers, John”
John O'CallaghanThe only limit to this contest if your own imagination. You don’t have to have the artistic flair of Leonardo Da Vinci in his heyday just an idea and a paint application to bring it to life. All the details on how to submit your entry and a hand press pack to help with the artwork are all here:
