Not just a rising start from Sweden but one who has been making waves on the house scene all over the globe, Avicii's next tide is about to come in with a double mix for iconic UK house label Strictly Rhythm's Miami compilation...
Strictly Rhythm announces that one of the brightest new stars in the dance music scene, Avicii, will select and mix the next ‘Strictly Miami’ compilation, due out on the 5th April. The next instalment in the acclaimed Miami series features both new and classic tracks from the legendary Strictly Rhythm catalogue, alongside some of the Avicii tracks and remixes that have made him one of the most talked about emerging new artists. The selection of Avicii to mix this album underlines Strictly’s forward thinking approach and ongoing mission to continue pushing the boundaries.
No one involved in electronic music could have ignored the influence that Sweden has had on the global scene in the past decade. Avicii a.k.a. Tim Bergman is the latest in a line of talented Swedish DJs/producers with the ability to shape the future of dance music. Still only 21 years old, he is responsible for the huge crossover hit ‘Bromance’ (under his Tim Berg alias), and as Avicii, counts the likes of Pete Tong, Tiesto, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell and many more as fans.
By the same measure, no one involved in electronic music can ignore the contribution made by Strictly Rhythm to dance music since its inception in 1989. The Strictly catalogue contains seminal dance tracks that defined their era. So, it seems fitting that as all avenues of electronica converge on Miami for the yearly celebrations, Strictly Rhythm and Avicii come together to deliver the best ‘Miami’ album you’ll hear this year.
Strictly Rhythm head of A & R, Seamus Haji comments on the decision to ask Avicii to select and mix the latest Strictly Miami compilation, “We’re always moving forward on a global level and Avicii is a DJ Producer that is really making a name for himself right now and inspiring a lot of the new breed. He knows how important the heritage of a label like Strictly is and I think he’s done a great job of combining his sound with ours and introducing us to a new audience”
In the first of his two DJ mixes, Avicii builds a deeper vibe with an infectious mix of groove and beats, mixing recognised Strictly names like Dennis Ferrer, Barbara Tucker, Armand Van Helden and Erick Morillo, with cutting edge remixes from the likes of John Dahlback, Prok & Fitch, and Alias Rhythm. As the mix goes on, he skilfully introduces some Miami sunshine with tracks such as the classic, ‘Be Free’ by Live Element, setting the scene for CD2. This mix is all about the party. Avicii cranks up the tempo and funked up grooves with big tracks from the likes of Jose Nunez, Chris Lake, Bob Sinclar and his own productions, ‘Sweet Dreams’, and ‘Bromance’ (Avicii’s Arena Mix). This mix is destined to be the house party soundtrack everywhere throughout the summer.
