© Pete TongWhat would you do if your celebrating twenty years in dance music? A special radio show, compilation or public vote perhaps? Not Pete Tong, he’s taking over Radio 1 for 12 hours and selecting his top twenty tracks from the past twenty years on the scene...

Pete Tong is a name in dance music that everybody should be familiar with. He has been around for years, twenty of them to be precise and that’s quite a milestone for any dance artist. Pete's not just a dance artist though, he is a true icon of the scene and has contributed to the house music scene in particular immensely over the years. His long running 'Essential Selection' on Radio One is anything but essential and has been on the air since the early 90's. It's time to mark the occasion with a very special broadcast which will see Pete take over Friday night's dance music marathon on Radio 1.

He’s booting off the Judge, who will have to budge for a week, Kutski and the regulars that grace Radio One on Friday nights for an evening of specialist dance music for a full on Tong orgy! He will be running down his all time favourite tracks from the past twenty years which he has shortlisted down to 50 for you to vote on which gets selected in the final twenty list. There will also be a very special Pete Tong edition of the world renowned ‘Essential Mix’ and Pete will be joined by the Chemical Brothers who will be taking over for an hour. Pete will also have Rob Da Bank and Groove Armada dropping in as well as the cream of the world’s electronic dance music at some point during the twelve hour marathon.

7pm - 9pm Top 20 dance tracks of the last 20 years
9pm - 12am Pete Tong Maida Vale Session featuring Groove Armada and more
12am - 1am Chemical Brothers Radio 1 Takeover
1am - 3am Pete's Essential Mix
3am - 5am International Pete Tong
5am - 7am A-Z of Pete Tong with Rob Da Bank

Now, we can debate all day and night long what tracks should or should not be in the final twenty shortlist but you can't grumble with the tracks selected as they are all corkers. The final list has the likes of The Prodigy, Daft Punk, Josh Wink, Underworld, Tim Deluxe, Massive Attack and David Morales is the mix alongside other legendary dance music icons from over the years. if you need a reminder of the tracks then check out Jaguar Skills very swish mix with all the tracks on the shortlist in it for you to check out. You have until the 1st April top get your vote it so do it now!

:: Cast your vote right here on the Pete Tong's Radio One site!

The celebrations will all be kicking off from 7PM (GMT) on the 8th April on Radio One. Keep up to date on the latest news as I'm sure there will be a few more surprises in store on the Radio One website here. It's all gone Pete tong and we love it!
