In its one year of serving house cuts Riva Starr's own imprint Snatch has been gathering quite the reputation for quality house music. In light of the milestone Riva’s dropping a very special extended EP with even more top class cut. Full preview inside...
Snatch! is still very much alive and kicking after its first tender 12 months and celebrates with an exclusive bumper release. Jelly, ice cream and balloons at the ready…Snatch! is a year old!
Snatch’s entertaining and eclectic spirit has had little problem connecting with hugely diverse dance floors, disrupting and delighting the house music scene for the past 12 months… a label whose jackin’ and juicy flair has made its way into the record boxes, airwave playlists and retentive memories of DJ’s around the world as diverse as Annie Mac to Pete Tong, Claude VonStroke to Carl Cox and Joris Voorn to Michel Cleis.
With Riva Starr at the helm it’s no wonder that Snatch has naturally manifested a genuine character, and released a true assortment of house gems that range from the bouncy, sun-drenched “Body Holly’ by Prince Club, to tech-house monster ‘U Know’ by Jet Project to disco supremo Pirupa’s “The Leader’. One to always bend the rules and make up his own, Riva keeps his melting pot of music unpredictable. You never know what he is going to serve up next.
Riva says… “Wow… Snatch! is 1 year old. I can’t believe how quickly the first year has gone. I’ve been so lucky to be able to release tracks from some of my fave artists, and there is still way more to come. This BDAY BASH EP is a V.A. with some proper bangers... It’s like a Snatch! night in a club, with stripped down tech-house and peak time party anthems from the likes of Acid Jack, Pirupa, myself and nu hope John Made and Homework... All I can say is ENJOY!”
V.A. BDAY BASH EP is a celebratory collection of house cuts from the label… Be warned; self-titled International bass hooligan’s Acid Jack has contributed to this anniversary with their analogue and tough track “Yoko Mono”, while Pirupa & Federico Milani’s – “La Noche” is sure to slap you around a bit and get those toes tapping. Dusty disco sounds can be heard in Homework’s – “The Street” and John Made’s remix of “Brighter Days” by the Chicago legend with the funny green hair (Green Velvet), that’s dripping, of course, with nineties nostalgia. Riva’s “Splendidub” reworking by Pirupa, and another by Come Together’s remix competition winner Sergio Marini.
Snatch is working on going from strength to strength with planned releases from house legend Sneak, Butch and some more underground trinkets from the man himself, but maybe under a hidden guise? Who knows with Riva Starr? There are also some planned Snatch parties in the pipeline so make sure you keep your eyes peeled.
For Riva Starr the road is as busy as it was last year, with a Future Essentials compilation with Pete Tong set for release in April, and if you’re lucky to get yourself to Miami this year, Riva will be playing amongst some seriously stellar DJs at Pete Tong’s pool party – it’s definitely going to be the place to be.
