The compilation series which drops in on trance countries around the world is about to hit volume number two with Sly One & Jurrane putting on show what the UK trance scene has to offer...
The UK is a serious hotbed for electronic dance music and a very big trance nation. Ok so the superclubs might not be what they once were ten years ago and the club scene is not as healthy as it used to be but dig down deeper and you will find a thriving underground scene. One of the biggest dance music labels in the UK is without doubt Recoverworld who have been an independent label since 1994. It was the label which John Askew made his name with and one which label boss Chris Hampshire and Askew's replacement Activa continue to move forward. Their first compilation release in the 'Global Trance' series took a look at the Irish scene with Gary Maguire doing the honours of picking out the very finest the country has to offer for trance music. He did a top job in doing his nation proud with a superbly energetic mix we reviewed back in September to much applause.
The series takes a little swim over the border and across the pond with the Global Trance series heading to the UK. There is no shortage of budding trance producer to have a crack at delivering a red hot mix for the series but chosen for the takes were duo Sly One & Jurrane. The pair have already made themselves at home with a few stunning releases on the label already and they look to dazzle once more with their debut mix for Discover. Sly One first broke into the scene back in 2003 but it was not until he teamed up with Jurrane and released the debut ‘Timebonb’ that things really took off. The compilation they have put together is not just a selection of their latest favourites but an exhausting collection of the finest unreleased, unsigned and unknown new material which they have been searching long and hard for months for.
You will find a few familiar names in there like Activa, John Askew, Michael Dow, Karl G and Simon Bostock but a few you may not have come across. You can be sure it’s a mix full of quality as Discover is not a label that lets any beats through the doors. The album will be another notch on Sly One & Jurrane’s rise to the top of the trance tree so make sure you check this one out come later on this month.
